My Two Dads

The phone rang once before it was answered.

"Hello, son. Anything interesting happened today?" Said Cian's father.

"Cut the crap dad I know my lawyer called you and hell I have been all over the news," said Cian.

Cian's Fater smiled on the other end of the phone. "You are right. I do know some of what has happened but it's been almost a year since we have talked and I want to know how my son is doing."

Cian sighed. His father always put him on edge. There isn't one time he has talked to him that he hasn't felt like he wasn't being judged. "I am sure Jason reports to you. Do you really need me to tell you about my life?"

"I know you are still hurt Cian, but believe me when I say I am sorry. It crushed me to think the worst of you and it was worst when I found out just how far Samantha went to frame you. Every day I wake up I have to live with the fact that I failed my son. I am sorry."

Cian was shocked by his father's words. It has been over two years and not once has his father apologized.

"Dad. Why are you saying this now?" asked Cian.

"Because it is time you come home. This business with Noble Eclipse is dangerous and I don't want you near them. " Cian could hear the worry in his father's voice.

"I am not sure that where you are is home to me anymore Dad," said Cian.

Cian's father sighed. "Your mother and I love you Cian. We have made mistakes but we are human."

"Goodbye, dad." Said Cian.

"Goodbye, son."

Jason stood at Cian's door. "He does care Cian. He calls me personally every week to check up on you. Your mother calls three times a week to make sure you don't need money or to make sure you are eating."

"I still love them it is just hard letting go of the anger," said Cian.

Cian's phone rang and this time it was Koray.

"Hey, are you okay?" asked Koray.

"Yeah, I was just talking with my dad." Said Cian. "It was hard."

"Yeah, I talked to my parents as well." Said Koray.

On the other side of town in the police station there comes a knock on the office of Captain Benoit. Two suits enter her office. One of the suits is male the other female.

"Hello, Captain Benoit. I am Special agent Nelson and this is Special agent Combs with the U.S.M.A. and we are here to give you some advice." Said, agent Nelson.

"Some advice you say, special agent," responded Caption Benoit. "I don't think I really need it."

"Ah, but you do Captain." Said, agent Combs. "You have been inquiring about Cian Gray and we suggest that you don't."

"Are you threatening me?" asked the Captain.

"No. We are just saying that asking questions about him would not benefit your career." Said, agent Nelson.

"That sounds like a threat." Said the Captain.

"Take it as you want Captain but Cian is not a threat to you or your city." Said, agent Combs. The agents then excuse themselves and the Captian stewed in her chair. A few minutes later Detective Wong and White entered the Captain's office.

"You okay Captain?" asked White.

"Yeah, just the Feds telling me to back off Mr. Gray," said Captain Benoit.

"You going to back off Cap?" asked Detective Wong. "I mean his dad is a very powerful person."

"Fuck his dad. Dig up what you can and I will call in my friends in the F.B.I. and see about the task force looking into Noble Eclipse. If you can find any connection between Cian and this group bring it to me directly." The two detectives leave the office and Captain Benoit looks at his file on Cian.

"You are beginning to make me wonder just who is Cian." as she looks at Cian's picture. Captain Benoit makes a few calls looking into Cian's past. A lot of his file is sealed. Captain Benoit finds that Cian got in trouble with the law a bit in his senior year of school but all of the records are hidden away from a standard search. She did find the name of an officer connected to the case. Captain Benoit Calls the Richmond city PD.

"Can I speak to Detective Sinclare?" after a moment of waiting a man answer the phone.

"Hello, this is Sinclare. Who is this calling me?"

"Hello, this is Captain Benoit of the L.A.P.D. I need to ask you some questions about a Cian Gray." the Captain could hear the gear turning in the detective's head.

"Officially I can tell you that Cian is an upstanding member of society," said Detective Sinclare.

"And Unofficially...what can you tell me?" Said Captain Benoit.

"The boy had a lot of trouble and he has gone through hell. He isn't a bad person but he had a shitty life. My personal opinion is to leave the boy alone. He has gone through enough." Said, Detective Sinclare.

"Well the boy is has stuck his nose in some serious business here and I need to know who is this kid and can he be trusted." Said Captain Benoit.

"I am going to send you a video Captain. You don't know where it came from and it was nice talking with you." Said, Detective Sinclare.

A moment later Captain Benoit receives a message from an unknown sender. The video was of the conflict between Cian and Samantha. She watched the video from beginning to end several times. The video had the full conversation between Samantha and Cian and the fight that came after.

"Fuck. This kid's life has been fucked, but that doesn't mean he isn't in league with Noble Eclipse."

Cian hung up the phone with Koray. He had a lot on his mind but he was unsure of his next step. He moved over to his computer and search for information on Noble Eclipse. The terrorist group has made waves in governments around the world. They have been trying to overthrow the government on several different fronts but for the most part, they only have caused trouble for governments. Their numbers are made up of mostly spellcasters of many different types but also have members without the ability to cast spells. Cian then logged into the Federal magical database. His father doesn't know that he knows Cian stole has access to his database so Cian limits his use of this. He looked at the information on N.E. and their members. There is only one known caster in N.E. that has access to light bases magic. He or she was known as Sunny. They have been hunted by Interpol for many crimes ranging from assassination to terrorism in 24 countries.

"Dad wants me to ignore you but I don't think I am going to be that lucky. And if war comes to my door I will not take prisoners."
