Mum and Daughter Time 16.

Raising her eyebrows, Temi asked;

"Have you been standing there talking all along?"

Her Mother shook her head as she said;

"Nah, I actually just came back!"

Nodding slowly, Temi slowly turned her eyes away as she looked somewhere else.

"I just saw Ethan leave...!" Her Mother.

At the mention of Ethan's name, Temi swiftly looked at her Mother.

Seeing this swift action, Temi's Mother walked over to get daughter as she placed her hand on her left shoulder as she looked keenly at her daughter, studying her.

Tilting her head to the side, Temi's Mother asked;

"Did anything happen between you two?"

Temi looked up at her as she tilted her head.

"Because the way he moved, liked like you both must have gotten into a fight or something!" Her Mother said.

Temi slowly shook her head as she said I'm a low voice;

"Nothing happened in between us, but...!"

"But then when he got outta the house, he shouted a little 'yes!', like as if he had won a gold medal or something!" Temi's Mother unconsciously cut her daughter off as she said.

Temi ghat had been somewhat moody now liked at her Mother with her eyes glistening as she tilted her head and asked;

"Wait, you heard him shout?" She asked.

Her Mother nodded.

"A little 'yes!' " Temi's Mother said a she demonstrated a little.

Looking away, Temi placed her chin on her fist, looking deep on thoughts.

Her Mother moved her head forward a little as she looked at her daughter with her brows furrowed.

Subconsciously leaning back, Temi rested on the bed.

Taking her hand up as she placed the back of her palm on the nape of her daughter's neck as she then moved to her forehead, Temi's Mother asked;

"Are you Okay?"

Temi looked at her Mother, nodding, she replied;

"Yeah, I'm fine, um, okay!" Temi quickly corrected herself as she sat upwards.

"I'm okay!"

She repeated.

Temi's Mother wasn't well enough convinced so she kept on staring at her daughter.

Turning to look at her Mother as she could feel a piercing stare, Temi turned to find her Mother staring intently at her. Moving her eyes across her face.

"Mum, why are you looking at me like that!?" Temi couldn't help but ask in surprise as to why her Mother was staring so intently at her.

Temi's Mother didn't answer as she continued looking all round her daughter's spotless face, as if trying to find a spot or something.

But Temi knew better.

Taking her Mother's hands in hers, Temi smiled as she looked into the eyes of her Mother as she stated clearly;

"Mum, I am okay!"

"There's nothing bothering nor affecting me! I'm truly fine, but if you think that there's something wrong with me, you know you can always check my temperature!" She said as she pulled out a little thermometer from her drawer.

And like anticipated (though she didn't actually believe that it would happen), her Mother took the thermometer from her daughter's hand and checked her temperature, causing Temi to laugh.

Once she was done, Temi took her hands in hers again and gave a reassuring look, causing her mother to let go of the air that she had been holding as she panted heavily.

Temi held onto her Mother's shoulder as she gently caressed her Mother.

"Have you been holding your breath for that long?" Temi asked.

"You scared me to death!" Her Mother said.

Temi pouted as she gave her Mother, the 'puppy eyes' as she said;

"But I told you I'm okay!"

"You don't need to worry all the time!" Temi said I'm a scolding voice.

"But, you're my baby!" Her Mother said as she pouted and rested on he daughter's shoulder.

"And I will always be your little baby girl!" Temi responded as she hugged her Mother's head.

"But Momma, sooner or later, your baby's gotta, and gonna, have to the leave the house and start her own life and handle her own matters!" Temi said.

Her Mother slowly sat up as she liked at her daughter, tears in her eyes.

"I know Mum, that there are times where your baby's gonna be faced with difficulty, and 'life',  and bad things, and stuff like that! And if I ain't gonna show the person that dares me, the way straight to hell, then I believe Temi haven't started her own life yet!" Temi said, causing her Mother to laugh.

Chuckling a bit, Temi's Mother raised her head up to look at her daughter, a she cupped Temi's chubby face in her palms as she said;

"My baby girl, all grown up!" She said as she looked away from her as she used her hand to cover her mouth as she cried silently.

Temi grabbed her Mother and turned her to face her as she deeply hugged her daughter.

"Don't worry Mum, I'd be okay and if make you proud!" Temi said with deep determination in her voice.

Raising her head from the comfort of her daughter's embrace, Temi's Mother used a wiper and wiped the tears and mucus away from her face as it revealed a red face with tears all over.

"I'm not scared actually about anything, really!" Temi's Mother said as she wiped her eyes and dabbed her cheeks.

Temi raised an eyebrow as she gave a questioning look to her Mother as she asked;

"Really...?"

Temi's Mother nodded.

Sniffing as she turned her head to look at her daughter, Temi's Mother said;

"Besides, for someone that had almost beaten school-mates half to death and still demanded an apology for something minor, is someone I can consider not worry about!"

As she was saying that, Temi burst out laughing as she rested in her Mother, who started laughing too.

Then after sometime, Temi decided to rest on her Mother's laps. So her Mother gently untangled her hair.

After some silence, Temi suddenly asked;

"Then what are you guys both worried about me for?"

"Huh?" Temi's Mother asked.

"I know that there must be something that both you and Dad are both worried about me for!" Temi said plainly.

"Yup! That's true!" Her Mother confirmed.

Temi nodded.

"Then what is it?" Temi asked.

Her Mother took her took before sighing and then answering;

"We sure are aware that you are capable of handling anything and almost everything perfectly...!" Temi's Mother began.

Temi gently nodded.

"But it's only thing that we 'feel', you can't handle in your own...!" Temi's Mother said.

"And what's that?" Temi carefully asked.

Sighing deeply as she prepared for how her daughter would react, Temi's Mother said;

"Your relationship!"

And as predicted, Temi slowly got up as she looked at her Mother with slight tears in her eyes as she looked at her Mother straight in the eye.

Not that her stare was sharp and threatening, but it contained some kind of pain, because she knew what her Mother was trying to say.

Taking her hand up to her daughter's hair, Temi's Mother said;

"I know, you might not find this convenient to discuss about!"

Temi sighed as she looked away.

"I know, that, you might be angry right now, but, it's for your own good...!"

"I'm not angry!" Temi said tearily.

Temi's Mother went silent as she watched her daughter.

She knew what was going on in her daughter's mind, so she said;

"Temi...!" Her Mother called.

Temi looked up at her Mother.

"We both want the best for you!" Her Mother asked.

"I know Mum!" Temi said.

"I know...!"

"But you know how hard I've been trying to be careful! You know that I am careful!" She said I'm a shaky voice.

"I know, Tems, but, you know the people you're surrounded with...!" Her Mother said.

"Mum, there's no need to even talk about!" Temi cut in sharply.

"You know how much I hate it when you talk about it, especially when it comes to people that I regarded as friends!" Temi said tearfully as she remembered something.

"Shhhh!" Temi's Mother card her down as she brought her daughter's head to her shoulder as she hugged her as her daughter cried on her shoulder.

Kissing her head, Temi's Mother said;

"It's okay, baby, it's okay...!"

"But, I am so sick and tired of having to love someone,but yet not get loved back, it's painful...!"

Temi cried.

Caressing her daughter's hair gently even though it was full, Temi's Mother said;

"I know, how hard it is, and how painful it is, but, this isn't the fairytales...!"

"I know...!" Temi said a she scratched her eyes and got up from her Mother's embrace.

"And this isn't like the movies...!"

"I know!"

"This is real life, reality and we're trying to train and retrain you, so that it wouldn't be so difficult and hard for you on life!" Her Mother said.

"I KNOW, Mum!" Temi said as she stressed out the first words.

Her Mother went silent as she stared at her daughter.

It wasn't the first time her parents were both telling her stuffs like these and she had crammed every single word, she could recite every single in if them off-heart.

Looking into the eyes of her Mother, Temi said;

"I know, Mum, that you and Dad want instant changes on me...!" She said.

"But things don't just happen overnight you know!" She said as she looked away.

Her Mother was still silent.

"It takes time for someone to change that good side of him to being another person, especially when it comes to childhood friends...!" Temi said.

"But when life hits you hard, and takes everything away from you, it won't take you a second to change yourself!" Her Mother said.

Temi looked up at her Mother.

"And no one's gonna be there to tell you when to change because when life hits you hard, neither nor your Father would be there to help!" Her Mother said.

Temi looked up at her Mother for sometime, studying her before slowly turning her eyes away to look down at her hands as she played with her fingers.

Then her Mother's hand appeared and held onto her hands, causing Temi to look up at her Mother.

"Breakfast's on the table, come eat!"

Her Mother said with a smile.

And then, kissing Temi on her forehead, Temi's Mother gave her a small hug and then got up and left the room, leaving Temi in her thoughts.

But that didn't mean she didn't look back a little.
