Chapter 41:The man at her apartment

That evening, Ariel met up with Jay and the delegate she sent to the Chain foundation. They booked a room at a five-star restaurant in order not to be disturbed.

"Miss" Jay began as soon as they settled down. He handed a file to her.

Ariel took it with her slender hands and opened it.

"It was quite difficult to retrieve it", Jay said with a pout.

Ariel chuckled at his actions while the delegate rolled her eyes.

"It's alright. I will make sure to double it up".

Jay smiled and leaned into his seat.

Ariel opened the files and looked through them. Her brows knitted with each flip of the page. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. After she was done, she looked at Jay.

"Take this to the police station. I have someone already stationed there. Make them investigate this case further and you would assist them".

" Yes Miss".

Ariel was angry." How long has this been going on? "

"Since last year Miss but no one has noticed".

" No", Ariel said." It's not that no one has noticed. It's just that they don't want to talk. But now, I will make them talk".

Jay and Mia were on their toes once they saw the change in Ariel's mood. They tried not to be out of line for the fear that they might be targeted.

Ariel looked at Mia. "How far is it with the members of the board?"

" They're all planning for the Rakash event though you have promised to help out but Kiera is just on tenterhooks".

" The board members? "

" They're not entirely happy. But they try to put up with it ".

Ariel heaved a sigh." Let them be. They'll have the 12 billion by tomorrow. Make sure they get it. You know what to do ".

" Yes Miss ".

Ariel looked into a distance. She was going to get that company from her. She needed to stop what was going on before it escalates. What did they think they were doing?!

"But Miss", Jay called getting everyone's attention.

"Yes?"

"The money, isn't it too much loss on our side since the company might be closed down?"

" There are no gains without losses Jay. I don't think we will actually lose since I will be taking over the company but even if we lose, it's still a little loss".

Jay and Mia froze. Just a little loss? Miss! Have pity on us that are broke asses!

"We would go with the flow. But, I don't think we would lose at all".

The duo nodded.

" Mia, you keep up with what you're doing and gather forces and info. I need to startle her in two weeks time. She would understand what it means to be a goner".

" Yes", they echoed.

" Miss", Mia spoke again.

"Yes?"

Ariel knew that there would be a lot to talk about. She was very patient with them and waited for them to state their reports.

"Kiera actually asked Mr. Cornell to look into you. I heard from my source that they weren't able to find anything. She also instructed him to get the list of those staying at Dragon area. I guess it's the case about that dinner party".

Ariel heaved a sigh and snickered. 'Kiera', she said in her mind.

"Don't mind her. Let her play around for a while".

" Yes Miss ".

They placed their orders and soon it was served. After they were done, Ariel had Jay take Mia home while she went alone.

When she arrived at the door of her apartment, she saw someone standing there. It was a man. He was wearing a black hoodie and pants. She couldn't make out who he was due to his mask. She steeled herself and walked forward.

"Move", she said when she got close.

The man looked at her, his eyes turning tender. He had come to like this chess piece. He really liked it. He removed his mask.

"It's me", he said. Ariel's brow raised slightly at the sight of him. She wondered what he was doing here. She heard from Jay that Rex was up against the Rodrigos and the Sanchez. She wondered why he was still here. Shouldn't he be abroad now?

"Why are you here? You always block my way".

" I'm sorry " he said and stepped aside for her to walk through. Ariel eyed him and went forward to open her door. She opened her door and was about to go in.

Daniel was alarmed when he saw her going in. Didn't she see him? Was she going to leave him here? Reflexively, he reached out and grabbed her arm.
