Chapter 36: A love for two

What rightfully belongs to me! That sentence echoed in Kiera's head as they left the Dragon area. What was she talking about? The Chain foundation? She looked at her mom who seemed absentminded.

"Mom?"

Mrs Lorenzo turned. "Yes dear?"

"What's going to happen?"

"What do you mean?"

" Ariel. She's threatening us ".

Mrs Lorenzo laughed. The laugh was as dry as it could ever be. " Kiera, she doesn't have any other family besides us. However even if she lifts a finger, I have something in store for her".

Kiera's interest was piqued. " What's that mom? "

The older woman smiled mischievously and looked out of the window. "Don't think about it. It's my business. Just focus on Chain foundation and nothing else".

A musical ringtone rang out. It was Kiera's cellphone ringing. She checked the caller ID and it was Drake. Mrs Lorenzo happened to see it. She scoffed and looked away. Kiera picked it up. After she had talked with him for a while, she hung up. She looked at her mom.

"Mom, is something wrong? Do you hate Drake?"

"It's none of my business if you don't want to open your eyes. Find someone else! "

Kiera sighed. She closed her eyes and massaged her temples. This has become an issue for her and her mom. She knew that Drake didn't meet her expectations. He wasn't that high on the pyramid however, she didn't want to abandon him just yet. He was the only one who loved her sincerely but his sincerity wasn't what she needed. She needed his fame and cash. She needed him to be on top of the pyramid just like Rex Forbes.

"Just wait a little more mother".

Ariel walked into her bedroom only to be greeted with a wonderful sight. Rex lay on her bed, with his arm resting on his forehead. The sun rays illumined his features making him look so warm. It was a stark contrast to the Rex she met at the party. She walked quietly to the side of the bed and covered him properly with the duvet. Her gaze paused on his face and she couldn't help but admire this man. How could the god of beauty be like this? It was as if he had transfered all his beauty to this human making him the god of beauty himself. She drew lines on his face with her finger. From his forehead to the bridge of his nose and then his lips. When she realized what she was doing, she blushed and pinched herself. She couldn't believe that she was doing something of this sort. She decided to leave the room. Just when she was about to stand, she felt a force pull her down from her wrist and she slammed into that muscular but warm body.

Rex spoke through his sleep. "I should pay you for those minutes of admiration".

Ariel's eyes widened in shock. She didn't expect him to wake up. Wasn't he sleeping?! She tried to get off but he held her down by the waist.

"Let's sleep together".

"No!", She screamed and looked elsewhere. She didn't want to look at his face.

"It's fine. I know how handsome I'm. I'm very handsome, no doubt about that".

So narcissistic! She lowered her head and bit his neck leaving a bright red mark on that spot.

Hiss! Rex sucked in a breath. He looked at her with a deep gaze. Ariel looked at him and the look in his eyes made her shudder. She hurriedly apologized.

"I'm so sorry. Does it hurt so much?" She didn't use much strength but it might have hurt right?

Rex didn't say anything and just laid her down beside him. He placed a kiss on her forehead. "Let's take a nap together".

Ariel's eyes quivered. She looked at him. "Should we?"

He nodded. Ariel smacked herself. It wasn't like he would say no!

After some thoughts, she agreed and relaxed. Her head was on his chest and she could her his deep breathing and his heartbeat.

"How did it go? With your visitors?"

"They left. They might try to use the family veto power to hold me down".

" Do you need my help?"

Ariel shook her head. "I can handle this".

He nodded. That was so like Ariel Lorenzo. "I will be watching over you. I won't let anyone bully you. They can only try".

Ariel felt her heart warm up. She didn't know what to say. She was just overwhelmed with his sweetness and protectiveness. It hasn't even been long but, he was already going at such lengths for her? On a second thought her happy thoughts crashed when she remembered Drake. He was also sweet to her. He promised never to let her be bullied but what happened later on?

He shattered her.

"I will protect you", the man's voice rang in her ears again. She looked up only to see him looking at her. "I might not give you the best love but, I will do my best to love you to the best of my capability. I won't let you get hurt".

" Drake also said that".

Rex frowned. Was she thinking of that bastard now that she was with him?

"Baby, do you think I'd end up like him?"

" I can't tell. I couldn't tell at that time too".

Rex heaved a sigh. " Do you have to think about him now? While you're with me?"

Ariel didn't say anything. She didn't know what to say.

Rex sighed. "It's fine too. I can wait for you too". He could. He has been waiting for the past five years. So, a little longer wouldn't do him any harm.

"You don't have to love me baby. Don't force yourself. You just need to be Ariel for me. I can love for the both of us. I will try all that I can to make my love to be sufficient for the both of us".
