Chapter 28: A meeting with mom

Jay set off to Salient gardens as Ariel had instructed. He looked at her through the rear mirror. Ariel seemed to notice. "What is it? Do you have something to say?"

" About what? "

" The man from the elevator earlier. Did you know him? "

Ariel was quiet for a while. Did she know him? Did she ever know him?

"He's no one you should bother about".

"Yes Miss".

" I need you to do something for me". She didn't think that she would need this Rex's bodyguard for anything but it seemed that she would. She didn't really have enough manpower for what she planned but, she might as well use his. He let her right?

"What do you need me to do Miss?"

"Get someone into the Chain foundation for me. I need to have leads on everything going on".

Jay smiled." That's why you have me here Miss. I can do whatever you want ". His voice was filled with playful vigor. Ariel smiled slightly.

"Alright".

That evening, Ariel settled at Dragon area. She decided to make dinner to celebrate her entry into Chain foundation. She opened her fridge and realized that it was empty. She was running low on groceries. She sighed and dressed up for the mall. She got into her car and went to the mall.

Ariel browsed through the commodities and items. She didn't really make a list so she bought whatever she saw that seemed useful. Fruits, beef, chicken, cereals, oats, rice, vegetables and drinks of all kinds. She smiled at her cart and drove it to the payment section. The cashier bagged her goods and collected her pay. Ariel went to her car and put her stuffs into the trunk. When she was about to leave, she heard a hysterical voice not so far away. She looked in that direction but decided to ignore it.

"You stupid old man! Are you blind?! Why don't you just die so that those who deserve to live would live?"

Slap! Slap!! Slap!!!

Each slap was hotter than the other. The woman felt a metallic taste in her mouth and immediately spat out blood. The slap was so stinging that she couldn't even open it again.

The onlookers were shocked at the scene. The woman that was slapped really deserved it. How dare she talk to the old man that way? So rude!

The old man felt as if an angel had descended into the human world when the young lady in sky blue dress appeared. She looked so valiant an brave.

"He should die? Well, u guess you're the one who deserves death first".

" You bitch! Did he pay you? Is he your hubby?! How shameless! You don't even know what he did".

Ariel looked at the grandpa and walked to him." Grandpa, are you alright?"

The old man shook his head. "I'm fine".

Ariel nodded and looked at the floor. His goods were scattered on the floor. She bent down to pick the items up. She carried the bag and began guiding the man out.

"Where do you think you are going? You still have the cheek to leave?"

" Why not? "

The woman scoffed. " This old thing bumped into me and broke my latest iPhone 15 pro max screen. You expect me to take it lying low? "

" It was an accident ", Ariel said.

" Really? He should pay for damages shouldn't he?"

" Why should he? I won't let him! "

" Then, I will sue him!"

Ariel looked at the woman from head to toe. She looked extravagant and also, like a show off. Just like a certain someone she knew. The woman that was her mother!

"Then, go ahead. I'm not afraid of you!"

The woman was stumped. Who's this.... She was stumped again! And again! And again! It was Ariel! Her... daughter? What the hell?
