Chapter 16: The one giving me this dance

The music coming from the musical instruments did a great job of leading them into the world of their own. They saw no one; heard no one; They only saw themselves. Ariel couldn't describe what the feeling brewing in her heart was. She didn't even want to take notice of it. She didn't want to notice it. But, the handsome face that was in front of her was too mind-blowing. The man wasn't even smiling but his eyes revealed some emotions. Does he like her? But they had only met twice. Just twice! Ariel screamed in her head. She didn't have time for stuffs like this!

"When are you planning to reveal your face?", His deep voice resounded in her ears. Ariel looked at him.

"Why do you ask?"

"Shouldn't I see the face of the woman I'm dancing with?"

" It's just for some minutes. It's not worth it and besides, you've seen it before ".

Rex nodded. " You're right though. No one else should see your face except me", he said with an unquestionable finality. Ariel was shocked at how he concluded the whole thing. Her face just for him? Who does he think he is?

"Tell me", she said, "do you know me?" She had been wanting to ask this question for a long time. Since that day at the elevator. She didn't know him till today but even so, she had never known him at all. Even at her younger days.

"When will you go to see them?", Rex replied her with another question. He didn't want to answer that. It didn't matter if he knew her or not. If he said yes, then she would want to know how, if he said no, she would also ask more questions.

Ariel arched a brow which made her look cute. Rex couldn't help but land a quick kiss on her forehead. Ariel froze.

"My bad, but that brow arching was cute". Her lashes fluttered. She clenched his well-pressed suit causing fringes to appear. Rex didn't mind that and pulled her closer to himself. Her breath hitched. "Don't worry little thing. I won't do anything bad to you. Not yet".

Anything bad? Why did it sound so raunchy?

Everyone could see the pair's interaction and most were blushing really hard while few were gnashing their teeth. They wanted to bore holes into Ariel's body. She could feel it from where she was. She didn't like so much attention but the attention he got her felt surprisingly good.

"Your wives are gonna kill me", she said, her voice a bit a little raspy. She didn't know why her voice came out like that. She was surprised too.

Rex smiled. "I don't have any 'wives' but...", he leaned forward closing their distance that their faces touched, "I have one, the one that is giving this dance to me".
