Thirty Seven

In a week, Merlin taught me more magic that I had even witnessed in my life. I was taught how to light fires with nothing but my hands, set up tents without even touching anything, and I could even break small boulders. All of everyone's praise got to me, however, and I asked Merlin during one of our lessons if I was ready to face Zephyr and he told me that I wasn't.

I persisted and told him how I could finally get my revenge with what he had taught me and he grew enraged. He asked me why I wanted to get revenge, and I told him that I wanted Zephyr to experience the pain that I experienced. I wanted to kill him. Merlin was livid with my response. The sky went from a bright baby blue to a dark thunderstorm gray as he asked about my reasons for learning magic.

Thunder began to roar across the dark sky as Merlin began to lift rocks and throw them at me. They grew bigger and bigger with every thunderclap, but I managed to break them until he threw a rock a little smaller than a boulder at me. The others tried to intervene, but he just threw them into the trees as he targeted me. He then picked up a tree and threw it at me, but as it traveled towards me, it was slowly turning into a sword.

The sword like the boulder stopped right in front of me and I thought it was another test until I saw Merlin. He was staring at Arthur who had put his paw on his leg to calm him a bit. Everything that was suspended in the air then dropped to the ground and I apologized for upsetting him. He just told me, "Seeking revenge after making peace with the deceased is the most painful way to kill them twice."

Merlin and Arthur then left camp as it started to rain.
