Forty One

I ran out to meet them, but I tripped on a tree root, and fell to the ground, but I got back up and went over to them and begged them for forgiveness. He didn't turn to see me and looked away as he told me that he was leaving for good. I kept telling myself to "stay strong" and not cry as pleas for forgiveness just fled out of my mouth. As I was begging, I remembered that Merlin lost both of his students because of vengeance and apologised for trying to use him to achieve the same.

I mentioned Kevin's name, and he finally turned to me and asked me about him. I told him how he was my older brother and he mentioned how Kevin left him and Zephyr to make sure that I stayed safe. He asked how I knew that he was his student and I told him how I saw him in my dream the night before. Something about me saying that confused and alerted everyone.

Perplexed, I asked about the dream's importance, and George mentioned that I made contact with someone who had been dead for 3 years. Arthur said that contact with the dead with no assistance from the old religion was practically impossible. Donatello asked Merlin what that meant, but he remained silent. When he finally spoke, he told me that I had too much raw power to be left alone. He once again asked me to become his student.

Before I could answer, Merlin revealed a sword and stabbed himself in the heart in front of us and pulled out the blade, unhurt. He then revealed a stone and told us that a sorceress had given it to Merlin and rendered him immortal. He asked if I was ready to carry that responsibility.
