MY MATE HAS COME

IN THE FORBIDDEN FOREST, JESSE'S POV

I went with four of the strongest members of troop: Beast, Derek, Murad and Xado on a run around the Aquilla territory in case of anything fishy. We stepped out of the troop house and shifted into something unimaginable, something those petty humans in Lucky Springs couldn't fathom, FLAME GORILLAS.

We were seven times bigger than the average gorilla, and a thousand times stronger and faster. We were the beasts of nature, the beasts of the forbidden forest. We ran with full speed covering a far distance in a short period of time. Our bodies made the ground to slightly tremble and caused heavy thudding sounds. Usually we were very quiet, but we had no reason to be in stealth mode. While speeding around the territory I heard it, "Thud...thud...thud...", the sound of a steady heartbeat.

I stopped in my tracks causing the other four shifters to halt as well. I listened carefully, shutting out the sounds of birds, the lake and basically everything, trying to focus on one thing, the thing I've been waiting for for a long time. I could hear the flow of blood in her veins. She had finally come to put me out of my misery. My mate had arrived. "Silverback is something wrong?", Beast my second-in-command asked through telepathy since we were in our shifted forms and couldn't talk. "She's here", I replied. "Who's here?", Xado asked curiously. I kept quiet and let them think about it. "Oh hoho our head female, Jesse's mate has been born", Derek said happily.

"Finally, our grumpy silverback can chill and be happy now. But seriously Jesse, I'm happy for you.", Murad said to me feeling genuinely happy for his best friend and silverback. "Now I just have to wait till she comes of age", I said impatiently. "You've been patient for 10 centuries, I'm sure you can be patient for a few more years.", Derek said to me. We continued our patrol.

Once we got back to the troop house, Xado was about to tell the troop the good news, but Murad stopped him on time. "What do you think you're doing?", he asked Xado."What does it look like I'm doing? I want to tell the troop about Jesse's mate being born", Xado said to Murad, clearly pissed off. "Yeah right...How are you the only one who doesn't understand what I mean?", Murad fired back.

"Just spell it out to him since he's a child who can't understand", I said to Murad, clearly annoyed Because of Xado's obliviousness. "Have you forgotten that our dear Madison is doing everything in her power to become the Head Female, Jesse's mate. She rejected her mate just to have a chance with Jesse. She's lusting after Jesse and the position of Head Female", Murad explained to Xado.
