Chapter 63: Empress

If I'm being honest I don't want to kill the Empress as she and the Fool are my favorite vampires so opinions here if I kept Empress alive because I'm not killing off my boy the Fool.

Satisfied with the considerable yield from the wide-ranging attack, which almost equaled a week's worth of constant farming in hell, I proceeded with a skip in my step to check on the health of the soldiers. Their condition was far from ideal, with many bearing injuries from the intense battle. Without hesitation, I called back the other two teams and instructed them to assist the wounded soldiers in leaving the mineshaft.

As they departed to safety, I pressed forward alone, delving deeper into the abandoned mineshaft, determined to in sure there was no more vampires left in this nest.

For hours, perhaps even days, I wandered the underground labyrinth, confronting the staggering number of vampires that lurked within. However, armed with Permafrost, now infused with the wither effect, I swiftly dispatched them, leaving a trail of frozen destruction in my wake.

Everything changed one day when I stumbled upon a peculiar mineshaft adorned with torches that emitted a bright glow, starkly contrasting the dark and dim surroundings. Grateful for my skeletal form, I realized that had I been any other creature, I might have succumbed to suffocation in such an environment, the smoke had to go somewhere.

With my interest now piqued, I followed the torches until I reached a large set of wooden doors that towered at a staggering height of three meters. The doors were adorned with gold and embellished with diamonds, the value of which, if sold before the mushroom war, would leave me poorer than Moe himself (The dude who made BMO).

'Damn, that's pure gold. Wonder what bastard would do this!' I thought, genuinely impressed. However, after a moment, I found myself quickly over it as I went to open the door. Yet, what I found on the other side nearly caused me to die from shock.

Gold... an abundance of it. The floor, the columns, even the ceiling itself was adorned with the precious metal, gleaming in the torchlight. Intricate artwork embellished every surface, each piece more elaborate than the last. Larger and larger gems adorned the decorations, adding a touch of opulence to the already lavish surroundings. As I ventured deeper into the shockingly large chamber, I realized it was about the size of a football field, yet every inch was covered in the splendor of gold and gemstones.

'Tacky' I muttered, a simple yet true thought echoing through my mind. I'd always believed there was such a thing as too much splendor, and this chamber seemed to confirm it. However, as I walked deeper into the room, I found myself halting in place. Not even halfway in, an enchanting voice of a woman echoed around me, emanating from every direction, making it impossible to pinpoint its source.

At some point, I noticed a woman emerging further into the chamber. She was tall, draped in a long black dress embellished with a golden snake winding around her waist and neck. Her head was adorned with a dark purple headscarf, obscuring everything above her nose, leaving only her plump lips visible. They were twisted into a smile, revealing a sinister smirk.

"Oh, if it isn't the HERO," her voice dripped with sarcasm as she slowly advanced towards me. However, before she could close the distance to within 10 meters, she halted abruptly. Instead, she began to circle around me, moving slowly and deliberately, as if attempting to intimidate me with her presence.

*I think its our first meeting right? Empress?* My words seemed to elicit a smile from her, as if my presence was merely a joke to her. She continued to circle me, effortlessly pulling out a hand fan to cool herself. Her voice, now pleasant and simple, filled the chamber once more as she spoke.

"Naturally, why would I deign to engage with someone who left Hierophant beaten thoroughly?" She paused for a moment, as if pondering her next words, before continuing. "Though I must admit I always felt he should be taken down a peg or two. He was so old school, it was frustrating. Like, who seriously asks for permission to go into someone's house? What are you, a friendly neighbor?" Empress's voice echoed throughout the chamber as I maintained my gaze on her, noticing how she seemed confident, to confident so I wasted no time getting to provocation.

*Don't know what your waiting for empress but honestly I must say I find you quite pathetic do you wish to know why?* My question seem to bug the empress as with a loud snap she closed her hand fan as she pointed it towards me and spoke.

"May I know why?" She asked sounding genuinely curious

*You're foolish and self-centered. The fact that you stand here before me is nothing but a display of your hubris. Furthermore, even with those supposedly keen eyes of yours, you're remarkably short-sighted. You failed to even consider a way to preserve the thousands of minions I killed on my way down here, which, in all honesty, is a waste. But hey, lacking the bit of empathy that makes people truly alive must be some kind of superpower, right? And don't bother pretending to be some elegant lady. I can see the disgustingness that is your true self* The empress face got worse and worse as she read the words of ice at some point morphing into pure anger, much to my satisfaction as I prepared for what came next.
