38 Chapter 38: Plans for the short term

After arriving at the town, I wasted no time finding a house and using whatever I could find to make beds for the two unconscious people on my shoulders. Sadly, the child's health seemed to show little to no improvement, but surprisingly, the woman's health had already risen from its measly 0.5 to 2, a significant development. I waited for the next day and a half, occasionally checking their status to see if either of them was close to complete recovery.

The first to recover was the grown woman, and the conversation went about as expected. She initially tried to run off with the still unconscious child, screaming not to kill her, something I couldn't allow, especially considering the increasing danger of roaming in a small group due to the rising average tier of ooze beasts over the years.

I spent the next few minutes calming her down, which didn't take long once she identified me as the hero of the wasteland or whatever they were calling me at the moment (it seemed to change frequently). Last year, they called me the mysterious stranger, which almost made me consider dressing up in a trench coat and randomly helping people in fights—a reference to Fallout aside; I found the woman's story quite interesting.

As it turned out, I was completely off about their ages. The daughter was actually 6, and the woman was 32. It seemed their family just aged faster overall. Why? The woman wasn't sure but mentioned that it started when she married her husband, whom she described as an eccentric, bordering on insane person. He would eat a raw egg in the morning, a boiled unpeeled egg in the evening, and a whole cabbage at night. Quite unhinged, but intriguing nonetheless. She even gave me a few theories about the man, theories I wouldn't be able to confirm, as she soon told me he died to oozers the month after the blast, all for a can of RobCo soup. Speaking of which, I needed to find that guy.

How can you be in Adventure Time without a BMO of your own? So yeah, that aside, I found myself mostly sitting around, thinking about how I will deal with the vampires, who will only really get into action in about 2 to 3 years. This leaves a good amount of time to chill and do nothing—well, "nothing" is a stretch, as I would spend time perfecting my No system casting and expanding the flexibility of my spells.

For this I planned to stay in a human populated area in order to use them as bait for vampires because if the those minions were to go by I would need less than 20 of them to level up something I would be able to easyily do if I stayed near a human populated settlement.

also because I didn't want to see humans become as desperate as they did in the show
