17 Chapter 17: Attack

Today was the day I would attack the Skaven base, a decision that many might deem foolish. However, after reaching level 12, I realized that leveling up with them would be pointless. I would need to kill hundreds of them to even gain another level, something I was more than willing to do. Yet, I would rather explore the world and perhaps stop by that town Tony went to. With the cloak, I could blend in, but I didn't want to leave these Ratmen, whom I had nicknamed Skaven, to grow. Any Warhammer fan would know that fighting them is a challenge, and I was not planning to have to deal with them later. So today was the day I would wipe them out.

I wasn't foolish; I made sure to visit and observe their camp from a distance. I estimated that they currently numbered between 400 and 500 strong. However, that number had dropped to something like 200 to 300 in recent days. Why this decrease occurred, I didn't know. Nevertheless, there wouldn't be a better time to wipe them out. I couldn't afford to wait and continue to eliminate more hunting parties because they had completely stopped sending them out. Thus, I would have to launch my attack now.

With that idea in mind, I began to consider strategies and tactics. However, I found that I didn't have much to work with. Nonetheless, I did have the idea of grabbing a long piece of rebar to use as a club, allowing me to wipe out multiple enemies at once. The bulk of those 300 Skaven were fodder, with tier 0.6 being the average. Therefore, I needed a way to dispatch large swathes of them efficiently. As for my fists, the black coloration that was previously localized to my finger and toe bones had now expanded to include my fists and entire feet.

The blackened bones weren't just for aesthetics; they significantly increased the durability of my bones. This enhancement was something I greatly appreciated, as it meant I could now punch through concrete walls without damaging myself from the recoil.\

'I'm ready,' I thought to myself as I watched the sun begin to set, darkness soon to reign. Leaving the bookstore, which held all the stuff I planned to take for my journey but left behind because it would be cumbersome to fight with, I continued down the road. The only things on my person were the cloak and the long rebar, which I nicknamed the "fly swatter." As the sight of the fortified museum came into view, the darkness did little to obscure it from me, as I could easily see through it in the night.

'Oh boy, here I go killing again,' I thought, making a joke no one in this new world would understand, as I began to move towards the gate of the Skaven home base. At first, it was a light jog, but it soon turned into a frantic dash towards the makeshift gate, clearly fashioned by the ratkin from debris. However, that mattered not as I ignored the group of four Skaven guarding the gate and came barreling through, beginning my attack.
