Part 2: Chapter 12

A moment of nostalgia

  I opened the door, leading him back inside. The little man ran full power forward, screaming, "Daddy!" 

  "Eh, there you are, lad! What did I tell you about runnin' away like that?" He had knelt, wrapping his arms around him. Years had passed, and I still wasn't ready for this moment. His deep blue eyes connected with mine.

  "Drew." I blurted. My heart stopped at the sight of him; his sharp blue eyes landing on me.

  "Well fuck me, Kavi." He seemed stunned, holding onto the boy with one arm. I stood there, the math trying to make sense in my head. Had it been so long? This boy had to be 5 or 6 already. He smiled, that beautiful smile I once fell in love with. "I—how are you? It's been such a long time." His face flushed; I could feel the tension building around us.

  "Do you know the pretty lady? She helped me." The boy questioned, tugging at his collar, eagerly showing him the box.
