Vincent POV

  Every fiber of my soul drenched in this darkness, the venom spitting from my lips felt like fire; the smoke filling up my lungs, choking me. The pain radiated from her like a supernova, the waves burning me alive. I walked behind her, watching her get in the elevator to leave me forever. What little piece of humanity inside bled for her. This irrational anger waned, and regret would set in.

  The doors closed and the machine whirred gently as it carried her down. I leaned my head against he cold steel, the emotions threatening to drown me. Dimitri stood by my side, his hand on my shoulder. "She will survive. She's too strong."

  Shaking my head, I moved away from him. "I am sorry you had to see that."

  He lingered around, watching me. "Don't be sorry. She really hurt you, didn't she?"
