They came in the night.
Starting fires and dragging the younger and stronger villagers away in the panicked commotion.
They came for my brother and I.
We couldn't escape.
They put us in chains and marched us down to the beach where they locked us away in darkness.
We couldn't escape; we were bound to the surfaces around us and each other. I could hear a mother crying for her daughter.
I could imagine my mother and father in tears if they hadn't been captured as well.
I screamed and that's when I was taken outside and whipped. It stung like hell, so I screamed on. The giant men seemed to enjoy watching me break down into tears.
They must have thought that I was weak when I'm not.
They must have thought that they were breaking me so I wouldn't rebel.
They were wrong and they paid for it with their lives.
