Chapter 39

"Miss, miss," a voice spoke. Jaysa was in no mood to wake up. She was comfortable. She didn't want to leave the warm spot she slept. "My lady, please wake up." Jaysa slowly opened her eyes. She tried to focus on the person that stood in front of her. "My lady, are you awake?" Jaysa's eyes were finally able to focus on the young maid that was leaning over the bed. Jaysa sat up and the maid took a few steps back. Jaysa rubbed her eyes still feeling groggy from the sleep. She looked around the room. It was different than what she remembered. Suddenly all the events of what happened last night refreshed in her mind. She pushed herself up against the headboard. So much had happened. "Miss," the young woman began to ask again. The voice brought Jaysa out of her thoughts.

"Yes," she replied.

"We need to get you ready for breakfast with the King." Jaysa couldn't care less about that man. She remembered asking Danzel about allowing the girls to be set free and she wanted to do that today. He had no reason for keeping those women since he had her. He did promise and she wanted to make sure that he was going to keep his word. Jaysa crawled out of the bed and allowed the young maid to escort her to the bathing chambers. Jaysa quickly bathed and dressed in a new outfit. She wore a lightweight dark blue dress. She believed it had to do with her husband preference. The dress was not fancy like the one she wore from last night, but it was still pretty. It had a zipper on the back, but buttons on the front. They were for show and that was it. She liked this dress more than the one she wore last night because it did not have a corset with it. She was able to breathe in the dress with no problem. The maid wrapped a small sash around Jaysa's waist and tied it in front allowing the ends to fall in the middle of the dress. The sleeves were long and even though her hands were out of the other side of the sleeves, there was more material that hung at the ends. When she lifted up her arm up, the material hung down it almost reminded her of the birds' wing. The young maid led Jaysa out of the room once the young girl was finished dressing. Jaysa stopped in her tracks when she walked out into the hallway. "What is wrong miss?" The maid stopped to question her Queen.

Where is the dungeon?" Jaysa asked. The woman was confused as to why she would ask a question like that. Jaysa never received a response as she questioned again. "Where is it? Where are they holding the women?" The young maid didn't answer the question, but instead said.

"My Queen, I was told to bring you to the dining room as soon as possible –"

"I want to see those girls and make sure they are okay." Jaysa spoke as she interrupted the maid.

"My lady, please," the woman almost begged. Jaysa turned to look at the maid properly and saw the fear in her eyes. She knew that fear. Jaysa then knew that if she did not follow the maid and continue being selfish, then it wouldn't be Jaysa, who got into trouble, but this innocent girl.

"Okay," Jaysa spoke with a gentle smile. "I'll go with you." Jaysa followed the maid down the halls. She looked at everything that they pass to use as reference so she would not get lost so easily. When they turned the corner, they were met with a man that stood in front of them by several inches. Jaysa believed she had seen the man before.

"I'm sorry that we were never properly introduced. My name is Martin. I'm Danzel's, I mean, the King's uncle. Nice to meet you." He spoke in a gentle tone. She stared at him. She couldn't block out the feeling that she had met this man before, but was unable to find out where. She pushed the thought from her head. There was no way she could know this man. There was one thing that she did know about him however. He was the man that had brought the chaos to the town's people. The hatred for the man was escalating inside of her. However, she kept her face calm and collected. Jaysa gently smiled at the man and bowed.

"I'm glad that you married my nephew. I'm hoping you will bring him happiness." The man spoke showing off a gentle smile.

"I hope I do as well." She spoke back. She could tell that the conversation making place right now was bogus. She knew that he was equally a fraud as she was. He would never say anything like this to someone with her background.

"Miss," the young maid's voice spoke out. "We must go." Jaysa glanced at the girl and back at Martin.

"I'm sorry Sire, but I must excuse myself." He just nodded. The two girls walked away from the man. Jaysa was oblivious to the scowl the man wore after they left.
