Case1 Four Families - ch13

As soon as they got home, they found a man waiting in the living room. Seeing the face of the visitor, Sherlock Holmes opened his eyes.

"Oh ..."

"Welcome back. Long time no see."

A man about the same age as Holmes with an attractive face: the long black hair brushed back, tied smooth, turned to greet him with a smile. As he stood up, the long black coat moved along his movement. Whether he intended it or not, his terrifying atmosphere that matched the black made the impression living room's lighting was fading away.

Only Sherlock Holmes didn't seem to feel that atmosphere. He walked over and friendly hugged the other person.

"James, have you been waiting long?"

"For half an hour. What about you, Sherlock? Are you busy playing with new toys?"

James Moriarty, Member of Free Man Hand, speaks. He was looking beyond the detective to the silver-haired doll, standing still. The green eyes that looked at were empty, lifeless. Sherlock Holmes glanced at Watson, alternating with Moriarty. The heavy atmosphere spreads, but the man in the black suit still smiled.

"Watson is a good partner, James, he ..."

"Do you feel pity for the things that will be destroyed?"

Moriarty's question left Holmes speechless. The visitor smiled at the corner of his mouth with a satisfied expression.

"Anyway, a stuffed toy has a duty to entertain the owner. If you like, then I don't object. Anyway ... what I came today has nothing to do with doll."

At the end of the sentence, it helps clear up the heavy atmosphere. James Moriarty patted Sherlock Holmes's shoulder and returned to the chair. The detective stood silent for about two seconds and turned towards Watson.

"Watson, go help, Miss Hudson."

The silver-haired man walked out of the room with a blank expression. Sherlock Holmes narrowed his eyes, feeling uncomfortable, and then sat down in a chair opposite Moriarty.

"You've met Norville Malcolm," says Moriarty.

"You know what happened to him, right?"

"From the newspaper. The last time I met him and suggested coming to you, I got these two things."

James Moriarty took out a yellow scroll and a brass key engraved with the letter M and placed it on the table. Sherlock Holmes looked at the two things on the table with an expression that can't explain.

...The missing map and key are here...

"You have to see your face now," chuckles Moriarty.

"Why did Malcolm give its to you?" Sherlock Holmes asked, thinking that Malcolm didn't say he gave James Moriarty the map and the key. Was it because Moriarty told him not to speak in order to surprise him now?

"When he told me about the devil, I said that if someone was going to kill him, it because of the map and the key. So Norville Malcolm said he'd give it to me," says Moriarty with a carefree expression on his face. "He said he didn't want the treasure. If I can find it, I can take it. He just doesn't want to die."

Sherlock Holmes listened and thinking when Malcolm was here. He said he didn't want to die either. But in the end, Norville Malcolm's wishes didn't come true.

"A map, I gave it to you," said James Moriarty and took the key and put it in his inner pocket. "You've met someone from others family."

"Yes, three other families. They gave me a map to solve the mystery that hides the treasure. James, what do you know?" Sherlock Holmes unfolds the scroll.

"Not much, Norville Malcolm doesn't trust other families. I think they wouldn't trust each other."

"That's right ..."

Sherlock Holmes mumbles in throat, half of his concentration was on the last map. Moriarty looked at that expression, before the detective's attention disappeared. The visitor stood up.

"Box class ticket for Il crociato in Egitto. Are you interested, Sherlock?"

"Yeah, what time?" Holmes raised his head from the map and stood up. Look at the face of his dear friend.

"If you prepare quickly, we can go for something to eat at a nearby restaurant."

.......................................

Late in the day later.

After breakfast without Sherlock Holmes's sign, Watson carried the dishes into the kitchen according to the routine with his expressionless face. Although he is a doll, he can eat regular food like a human being. But even if he doesn't eat, he won't faint because of a lack of nutrients. It is called a system that allows the doll to behave like humans.

An older woman whose face was so young that can't guess her actual age, sit and sip tea while looking at the silver-haired man with a big smile until Watson walked back with a rag to clean the table.

"Oh, thank you, John, since you were here, it helped me a lot."

Miss. Hudson was the only one who called Watson by the name 'John', when Watson asked why called the name. Miss Hudson, who blinked her eyes, replied.

Oh, why? I think it's suit you than 'Watson'. Or do you not like it?"

But Watson said nothing. Miss Hudson has always called him 'John'.

Ding Dong

Watson put down the rag and went out to look at the door to see who's coming. Looking through the peephole, it was an inspector who had just met yesterday.

"Is Sherlock here?" Lestrade asked as soon as Watson opened the door.

"Working since last night, haven't left the room yet."

"Give this to him." Lestrade handed an envelope and turned back toward Scotland Yard's chariot. But before getting in, he turned to reiterate.

"Make him read immediately."

Being told that, Watson walked up to the second floor, knocking on the door of Sherlock Holmes's office, but there was no answer. After returning from outside with Moriarty last night, Holmes spent in his office to analyze the debris collected from Malcolm's home until now.

"Holmes, I come in."

Watson opened the door. Sherlock Holmes's office was more cluttered than the first day he moved books from his room to place here. It also emits a strange scent mixed with it, and even the Watson doll, who has a superior sense of smell than humans, cannot tell what it is.

"Holmes a moment ago, Inspector ..."

"Watson, you came just in time. I've found so many great things. The little villain is a native Andaman and another person who is as tall as me; they really together. I got very close to the truth, and the hair that you picked up was not hair, but ..."

Sherlock Holmes, who has not been asleep since going to the Rosevelt home but remains active, looks up from a desk with a test tube and telescope. He stood up and spoke nonstop with a look of excitement and joy at himself. Watson listened quietly until a black-haired man noticed the envelope.

"Watson, you just said that Inspector ... Lestrade brought that, right?"

"He said made you read immediately" Watson handed an envelope.

"Hmm, the list of survivors from the shipwreck. Work fast as always." Sherlock Holmes smiled. Sweep with one's gaze all thirteen names, saw a familiar surname 'Blake' 'Livingston' 'Rosevelt' 'Malcolm'

"Hmm ..." Sherlock Holmes stopped his eyes at the 13th surname and understood, that why Lestrade told him to read immediately.

"What do you think?"

Holmes sent Watson a list. Watson swept through his eyes and immediately answered.

"I think it's not a coincidence ..."
