33 The Crossroads of Realities (1)

He decided to set out on his own, taking his butterfly wings to the sky once more. The campus was vast and held many secrets, and Enzo knew that he needed to gather information about these "ancient entities" before they made their appearance.

Although he was sure that for now, not a single piece of information will be available to him as he was way too weak, it only meant that he needed to get stronger.

"Seriously, I need to find my family, get stronger, protect everyone. I don't know what to do anymore..." Enzo massaged his eyes as even the thought of it made him tired. However, it was a necessity, so it wasn't as if he could do something about it, right?

His butterflies tried to comfort him, flying around him, landing on different parts of his body, flapping their wings gently on his skin. "You guys will always be with me, right?" He chuckled as he saw the efforts they put into making him feel better.

Even though it wasn't something big, it did make him feel a little more confident.

"It would be good to find another dungeon." He said as he looked up at the sky. "It would be easier to get stronger this way."

Indeed a dungeon would be amazing. It will allow him to get immensely stronger, making his journey alone easier. However, at the same time, a dungeon was also a risky endeavor. Enzo was well aware that dungeons were unpredictable, filled with challenges that could either make or break him. But given the impending threat of the ancient entities, he knew he couldn't and shouldn't afford to back down from any opportunity to increase his strength.

Though, it wasn't as if there were any dungeons anyway.

With a determined sigh, he continued to glide through the sky, his butterflies keeping pace around him. The campus beneath him was a sprawling landscape of possibilities, each building a potential location for increasing his strength. As he scanned the surroundings, a distant structure caught his attention.

A dilapidated tower, standing tall amidst the ruins of a once-grand courtyard. Enzo's curiosity was piqued. After all, there were no such towers before on the campus. It was as if it appeared out of thin air.

"Should I take a look?" He said to himself for a second. "Well, it's not as if I have anything to lose, right?

As such, he decided to investigate further. Guiding his butterflies in a controlled descent, Enzo landed near the tower. Its stone walls were weathered, bearing the marks of time and neglect. Vines snaked up its sides, adding an eerie touch to its already mysterious appearance.

With cautious steps, Enzo approached the tower's entrance. The heavy wooden door creaked as he pushed it open, revealing a dimly lit interior. The air inside was musty, and a shiver ran down his spine as if the tower held secrets that were better left undisturbed.

Torch sconces lined the walls, their flames flickering as if they were reluctant to dispel the darkness. Enzo's every footstep echoed through the corridor as he ventured deeper, his senses on high alert. The tower seemed to be a place untouched by time as if it had been waiting for him.

He came across a spiral staircase that led upwards. With a determined breath, he began to ascend, the creaking of wooden steps accompanying his climb. The higher he climbed, the more he felt a sense of anticipation, a feeling that he was on the verge of discovering something significant. However, the fear of discovering an ancient threat was also here, deeply settled in his mind.

It would either be something extraordinarily valuable, or extremely deadly.

However, the moment he reached the top, Enzo felt an energy surge around him. It was as if he wasn't welcomed - yet - in this place, and as such, something unexpected happened.

It was the same as when he got transported into the dungeon of fury. His vision turned completely white, and when the colors came back, he was...

He was on a battlefield.

'Seriously me and my mouth! Why the hell did I jinx myself, wanting to go into a dungeon? I hate it!' Enzo cursed at himself. If he knew such a thing would have happened, he would have his mouth shut.

Not that it would have changed something anyway. His curiosity was probably too great to not enter an ancient tower, most likely to hide something too ancient for him to comprehend.

Nonetheless, he couldn't dwell on his thoughts for long.

The land around him... was filled with the scent of blood. Bodies were lying down on the ground, and the sound of metal clashing against each other was entering his ears more and more as the seconds passed.

With a sinking feeling, he realized that he had been transported to a time of ancient battles. As he cautiously moved to the side, trying to avoid attracting attention, he noticed that the soldiers fighting were of different races – humans, elves, dwarves, and other creatures he couldn't immediately identify.

His butterflies flitted around him, their presence a source of comfort amid the chaos. But Enzo knew he couldn't stay hidden for long. The clashes between the soldiers were unpredictable, and he was at risk of being caught in the crossfire.

He needed to find a way out and return to the tower – if that was even possible. He also couldn't ignore the possibility that this battlefield was somehow related to the ancient entities.

However, the most disturbing thing was that he didn't get any notification from the system telling him that he entered a dungeon. He still has access to the system, but he was most likely not been transported into a dungeon.

'Where the hell am I then?'

Right when he finished his thoughts, a spear threatened to pierce a hole into his head. If it wasn't for his senses being shared with his butterflies, he wouldn't have been able to dodge it.

"Incredible," A woman's voice entered his ears. As Enzo turned around, he saw a breathtaking beauty, with scarlet hair and gray eyes. She was wearing light armor, but most likely strong enough to protect the woman from heavy strikes. "I wasn't aware that the butterfly prince was strong enough to dodge a blow. Weren't your physical ability supposed to be weak? You just awakened recently as well. How strange."

Her eyes pierced him as if taking a look into the deepest part of him. Enzo felt strangely uncomfortable, but quickly remember that it wasn't the time for such things.

And while the woman was busy studying him, Enzo couldn't help but have a disturbing thought. 'If other entities could come to Earth, then does it mean that humans from Earth could go into other realms as well?'

The thought of it sickened him.
