Butterfly Extraction (2)

As Enzo stepped out of the building, he was immediately met with a terrifying sight - a large, muscular dog charging straight at him. It was clear to him that this was no ordinary dog; its mutated appearance was most likely due to the same strange energy that had given him his powers.

Enzo's heart raced as he tried to quickly think of a way to defend himself. He had never been much of a fighter and had relied mostly on his newfound ability to survive so far. And even now he hoped that his butterflies would go and kill this enraged dog. Yet the monster came closer, and the butterflies didn't move an inch.

Enzo suddenly realized that there was no target in sight, at least from the butterflies' point of view. As he reflected on his past fight, he recalled that his carnivorous butterfly only attacked the zombies after he had successfully landed a hit on them.

And so he guessed it would be the same now.

Thankfully he didn't come out of his dormitory without weapons. Even though it couldn't really be considered as one, his metal pipe should still be efficient enough for him to defend against the terrifying dogs.

Enzo's hunch was proven right when he successfully blocked the dog's bite with his metal pipe, but it came with a price. The force of the dog's attack was much stronger than he anticipated, almost bending the pipe in half and causing his hands to go numb.

"Shit!" He cursed under his breath as he slid through the ground for a while, with the dog still running toward him. "Won't you guys do something?!" Enzo shouted, attracting the attention of other monsters as well. They were also coming toward them. "Shit! Shit! Shit!"

Enzo felt a wave of panic wash over him as he noticed several more dogs and birds coming toward him. Although they were not as intimidating as the large dog in front of him, he still doubted his ability to take on all of them, even with the help of his butterflies. The situation was becoming more daunting by the second, and Enzo started to get scared.

His butterflies finally started to move. Though, they didn't go for the large muscular dog, but for all the surrounding monsters that were coming toward their masters. The carnivorous butterflies chomp down on the dogs' legs, making them unable to move, while the poisonous butterfly released spores that poisoned the birds, making them all fall onto the ground.

In a mere ten seconds, the ten monsters that had charged at him after his shout was lying on the ground, awaiting their inevitable demise. Enzo's carnivorous butterflies killed them quickly as he received several notifications indicating their defeat, as well as their extractions.

Strangely enough, he didn't get any more notifications for the kills of the same race of monsters as if he couldn't get any stronger after he killed three monsters of the same race.

Though, he couldn't care less right now as the only thing he focused on right now was the extractions' notification.

As Enzo continued to deflect the big dog's attacks, he was gradually being forced back with each blow. However, this retreat worked in his favor, as he was able to activate his butterfly extraction whenever he found himself near a fallen enemy, easily gathering the maximum number of butterflies he could carry at a time.

Thanks to that, in no time, he has in his possession five carnivorous butterflies, two poisonous butterflies, and finally three protective butterflies.

As the fight dragged on, Enzo began to feel the strain of the battle taking its toll. "Please, target this monster!" he pleaded with his butterflies, hoping to end the fight quickly. The recoil of each attack he parried was becoming more pronounced, leaving him feeling increasingly restless and fatigued.

Thankfully for him, his plea was heard as the protectives butterflies who were until now of no good made a three layers shield to protect their master. Two of the layers cracked under the heavy blows of the dog, but the last one stood strong, making the monster take its first step back from the whole fight.

However, it soon became clear that the monster's choice to engage with Enzo was a grave mistake. As Enzo's poisonous butterflies landed on its colossal body, the creature's legs grew numb, and it began to falter. With just two of Enzo's poisonous butterflies, the monster was neutralized, leaving his five carnivorous butterflies with ample time to finish off their master's foe.

The intense battle proved to be a turning point for Enzo, as he gained four levels and achieved the maximum level of fighting prowess. With a full team of deadly butterflies at his command and an increase in his physical strength thanks to the stat points he earned from slaying his enemies, Enzo was now a formidable opponent. Despite feeling exhausted during the fight, he was suddenly filled with renewed vigor as if a burst of energy had revitalized his body.

Though he knew better than anyone that he shouldn't succumb to the adrenaline as he would be dealt with quickly if he were overconfident.

Nonetheless, he was still delighted, and even more so once he found something shining under the big dog's body.

"What is that?" Enzo took a box with strange patterns on it as his butterflies rested on his body.

Enzo's eyes widened in amazement as he realized the significance of the treasure chest he had found. Rare treasure chests seem extremely valuable and could contain powerful items that could greatly enhance one's abilities. After all, it came from an Epic monster, so he was sure that it would contain something great.

With trembling hands, Enzo opened the chest, not knowing what he would find inside. As he opened the lid, a bright light emanated from within, blinding him momentarily. When his eyes adjusted, the chest disappeared, leaving behind two swords. One of them was a short sword while the other was a dagger.

[Lys twin sword: The power of those twin swords is enough to cut a car in two. The short-sword's power is enough to break the defense of almost any creature below level 40. Additionally, the dagger will poison the creature when wounded. When equipped, Dexterity +15, Strength +15]

The two swords were glowing in a multicolor hue. It was unlike any sword he had ever seen before. The blade was made of a shimmering, iridescent metal that seemed to shift in color depending on the angle it was viewed from.

Enzo carefully picked up the swords from the pommel, feeling its weight in his hand. He swung it experimentally, marveling at how easily it sliced through the air. He knew that he had been given a gift, and he would use it wisely.

As he looked at the swords, Enzo noticed that his butterflies had taken on a similar iridescent sheen, their wings glimmering with a rainbow of colors. He smiled, feeling a sense of pride in his newfound strength.

But Enzo also knew that it was still far from over as he needed to reach the gymnasium as quickly as possible to reach shelter there.
