Unpredictable Woman

As the moon's gentle light bathed the surroundings in a silvery embrace, her gaze fixated on the distant figure of the man. In that moment, tears welled up in her eyes, streaming down her cheeks in an unexpected torrent.

Caught off guard, she stood frozen, her face a mask of blankness, unable to express the tumult of emotions within her. But then, in a trembling whisper, she uttered, "Yang... Huo...?"

Though he couldn't hear her words, Yang Huo could roughly guess what she said from reading her lips.

'She knows me?'

This realization sent a ripple of unease through Yang Huo. From the way she reacted to his face, it seemed the original Yang Huo and her had quite the special relationship.

Yang Huo resisted the urge to massage his forehead. He thought having a fiancée was problematic enough, but now...

Sighing deeply in his mind, Yang Huo decided to inquire about her well-being, even adopting a softer tone just in case. "You seem injured. Are you alright?"

As if awakening from a daze, a subtle shift swept over her. As she wiped the tears on her face, her features softened and a faint smile was tug at her lips. Shaking her head, she approached him slowly, and in that moment, Yang Huo witnessed something extraordinary.

Even though she appeared to be walking leisurely, the distance between them seemed to shrink in an instant, as if she was running. When they were finally face to face, she leaned forward with her eyes still slightly teary, and asked with a beaming and expectant expression.

"Are you worried about me?" Her white robe was stained with red blood, yet her smile remained bright.

Her sudden act of closeness caught Yang Huo off guard, causing him to stepped back instinctively. "...Of course," he replied.

Keeping her radiant smile, she took another step closer, her curious eyes fixed on him. "Yang Huo, what are you doing here?"

"I..." Yang Huo hesitated, with how nonchalant she was around him, the original Yang Huo and she must have shared quite the intimate relationship. 'No wonder that damn guy was so eager to come here. Turns out he already had someone!'

Interacting with her any longer could be dangerous, so Yang Huo couldn't tell her that he–

But before he could say anything more, she interrupted, "Are you lost?" she asked, a playful smirk tugging at her lips.

How the heck did she figure that out? Was the original Yang Huo bad with direction?

Chuckling at his puzzled expression, the woman offered with a blush on her cheeks, "I can guide you."

Yang Huo's eyes twitched from seeing her mischievous eyes. He could already feel the headache rushing in. This was not good. Because of his lack of information, Yang Huo couldn't control the current flow of their conversation at all.

In less than a second, Yang Huo quickly calmed himself. "That won't do," he replied smoothly. "You should tend to your injuries first. I can find my own way back."

Of course, this was just nonsense from him. Just from the smell alone, it was clear that this was not human blood, much less her blood. And the woman also didn't seem to have sustained any or at least critical injuries.

But so what? No matter what she said, he would play dumb and be stubborn!

"Sure!" she exclaimed, extending her hand to him.

Yang Huo blinked, momentarily confused. Why was she offering her hand?

Her innocent smile quickly clarified her intention. "Medicinal pill. Don't you have one? That will be my payment for guiding you back!"

Yang Huo's mouth twitched. This shameless girl! She clearly had no injuries, yet she still asked for a pill? This was daylight robbery!

The woman swayed her hand up and down. "C'mon c'mon, I know you have one with you."

Yang Huo resisted the urge to massage his face from exhaustion. 'Aah~~ I give up! This woman is too unpredictable!'

He knew a few people like this in his previous world. Without spending time to gauge their personality beforehand, predicting their behavior and thought process was nearly impossible!

Immediately, Yang Huo altered his plan. Though risky, he decided it was best to use this opportunity to roughly map out her personality.

Observing her hand still nudging up and down as if demanding what she wanted, Yang Huo sighed inwardly. He retrieved a white pill from his storage ring and handed it to her. As she received her reward, the woman smiled like a little girl. "Follow me!" With that, they walked together with Yang Huo a step behind her.

While keeping pace with the woman leisure speed, Yang Huo scanned his surroundings, searching for something. 'That damn System, where the hell did it go?' He hadn't seen the owl since his conversation with the woman.

However, dwelling on it would be futile. Yang Huo pushed the thought aside and focused on analyzing the woman beside him.

He was unable discern the relationship between the original Yang Huo and her. She didn't seem to idolize him blindly like a lovestruck woman, nor did she behave strictly as a friend would. When she saw his face and cried, he could see a sense of longing and affection in her eyes.

It was like they were more than friends, yet less than lovers.

Could she be Su Meiying? Since the story did not give out any illustration, Yang Huo still had no idea what his fiancee looks like.

But Yang Huo swiftly dismissed the idea. 'No, it's impossible.'

Although he hadn't read the story in detail, he had already grasped the essence of Su Meiying's character. The way the woman acted bore no resemblance from Su Meiying in the story.

Because of the treatment Su Meiying received since childhood, Su Meiying had a more submissive tendency and low self-esteem, with the occasional self-pity and outburst of resentment towards the surrounding people.

And even if he was wrong, the relationship between the original Yang Huo and Su Meiying was one tainted by hatred and indifference. Or at least, a complete opposite of friendly.

Yang Huo released a long sigh.

He thought all he needed to do was act like a domineering young master with an occasional sense of distance towards the Su family in regard to their past relation... but now, because of this woman's existence, things have gotten unnecessarily problematic.

'Yang Huo's relationship with the Su family is way too complicated.'
