"Oh my god, I can't believe you did that !"
June could hear her aunts laughter through the phone. "He's going to be so much fun. He's head over heels"
"How could he see you and not be head over heels for you, impossible"
The two women laughed until the doorbell rang. June furrowed her brows. She was not expecting anyone.
"I'll talk to you later ? Ok, love you"
June ran to open the door, "coming!"
June opened the door only to see a woman she did not recognize.
June smiled tightly. "I'm sorry I think this i-"
The woman removed her sunglasses, "Are you June ?"
"Yes "
The woman smiled, "I'm Mary", she said as he extended her hand.
"I'm sorry I am not quite sure I know you"
"No ! It's fine here let me try something else" the woman paused, "Mary McClain ?"

June's held her breath and kept her head up but still she shook her hand.
"June. June Demoura. Please" she stepped aside welcoming the old woman into her house.
She went in to bring her a glass of water. She examined the woman. Quite stylish and that hair. She was very gracious. Both she and her son.
June placed the glass of water on the table. She sat down slowly as she felt Mary's eyes on her.
"So, how much do you want ? "
June crossed her arms, "what ?"
Mary repeated, "how much do you want ? Name your price"
June opened her mouth in surprise, "I'm sorry but what exactly do you mean ?"
"Why would you rope in my only son if you didn't want anything from him.?" Mary continued, "those manipulation techniques I know them all too well"
"So name your price. Is it five ? Ten ? Hell double that ! " Mary leaned in, "just tell me and I'll have it in your bank account before you know it. Just leave my son alone"
June couldn't handle it anymore, "believe me he is alone"
"I don't need any more money. I've got enough and more than you think !" June bit her lip, "but to come to my house and insult me is crossing all the lines. I'll have to ask you to leave please"
Mary clench her jaw hard. What did he even like in her. "You don't want to make me your enemy, June. I'll go great lengths to protect my son."
June nodded sarcastically, "and I'll enjoy watching you do it, now please let me show you the door"
Mary stood up and left the apartment.
June let out a deep sigh. God she was sorry she hurt her husband.
