Carriage making

From the design that he saw on the technology book, Virtya could make the wheel using timber or iron but now that iron seemed to have a problem with its supply, he would have to depend on timber for the time being. It was just that curving wood had it's own prerequisite.

It depended on the type of wood that one was curving. Some wood might develop fault lines here and there, some might absorb moisture thus making them weak which would then render them ineffective as a wheel, while some woods were simply difficult to work with. Using iron was the most effective way to make the wheel thus, Virtya had decided to use wood to make the other parts of the carriage like the wagon itself and the tug, while using iron to make the wheel.

Tanya nodded her head and walked out of the meeting room. It was only Alexandre and the other blacksmiths who remained in the room.

"Your highness, what is the thing that you want to build?" Alexandre could not help but ask out of curiosity as he caressed his hair. The blacksmiths who were in the room also perked up their ears to hear Virtya's answer.

"Erm, it is something simple, not as complicated as the plough, it is called a carriage. Actually, I have seen how they make them in the northern continent. It was just that I was ignorant to make them back then but now that I think deeply into it, it is something simple to make."

"Your highness, is this carriage also for the farmers?" Nataschenka ( blacksmith guild master) could not help but ask what was in her mind after Virtya finished talking. The tools that they had been making so far was mainly for the farmers. His Majesty had not supported them fully as blacksmiths since he took the throne.

Nataschenka had thought that since the king had come to their lowly guild to for the second time, he would support them.

Virtya seemed to have seen through Nataschenka's thought, so he answered.

"I have not forgotten about the blacksmith guild, I have already refurbished the guild as you guys wanted and I will bring more jobs here, it is just that what the people need right now is food more than anything else. So, the farmers and farming are of a high importance than anything else... As for the carriages that I am going to make, they would be useful everywhere and to everyone, you will also like them as they would make work like carrying loads and travelling easier."

Today was the day when all the raw materials to create the wheel were already assembled at the blacksmithing guild. Virtya had called all the blacksmiths of the blacksmithing guild in Azuhai kingdom and the carpenter's association to assemble here. The place was full of blacksmiths and carpenters and lively as all the people were talking about the upcoming event.

Rosemonde was a blacksmith from Polpei city port and she had travelled for an entire month on her horse together with her blacksmithing comrades so that she could also be part of the group that will be part of this project of the king.

Actually Rosemonde had seen the craftiness of the plough and the wheelbarrow and she could not help but praise the king who came up with the design, this was what them as blacksmiths had to make and not those stupid weapons of war.

They as blacksmiths had been too clouded by the war in such a way that they could not be creative and fabricate something of importance. If they could have came up with the design of the plough a long time ago, wouldn't they have earned much money by selling them to the farmers and thus enabling increased food production?

All of them as blacksmiths had failed, they were ignorant and stupid for not coming up with such a simple design of farming tools. The king who was busy with administrative duties in his palace had to come down here so that he could "wake" them up, it was just too embarrassing to their careers. 

Rosemonde Hebert had declared to learn the prerequisites for fabricating these tools so that she could die with some legacy as a person who took part in this change. A person who turned around and said that blacksmiths could not just make weapons of destruction only, but also they could make farming tools to ensure food and population productivity. Yes.
