Chapter 52

Oberyn had returned to Sunspear and informed his brother Doran of what happened with the Empire.

Instead of making an ally, they possibly made an enemy out of the Empire. Doran thought that he could hide the fact that his daughter had been sleeping with lots of men, but it seems not.

He started to regret not caring the first time his daughter told him that she had lost her virginity, but at the time he didn't care about it, but now he wishes he did something since getting revenge for Ellia has gotten farther away.

Arianne wasn't happy at all since hearing the words that she was called even if they were true, she didn't think she deserved this amount of disrespect.

In her hand, she had a drawing of how the Emperor looked that she got from a merchant that had traveled to Qohor. In her eyes, the Emperor was the perfect person since he was Handsome, and he had lots of power. But now she won't get to see him in person since she won't be married to him, only because she was sleeping with other men.

She ran to her, ran to her room as she cried for days blaming herself for what happened, and now she will go back to being of no value to her father.

While Doran begins to look back on the things he did and Arianne fused about how it was her fault, it was the year 296 AC, meaning that a year had passed during which the events of Dorne meeting with the Emperor had happened.

Besides the whole meeting with Dorne thing going on, other things in the Empire had happened, such as the invention of The Aqueduct, which was a watercourse constructed to carry water from a source to a distribution point far away. Aqueduct water supplied public baths, latrines, fountains, and private households; it also supported mining operations, milling, farms, and gardens.

Sanitation was the next thing that was improved since with the help of the Aqueduct sewers were able to be flushed with water instead of needing to use people which was what the Empire was doing since Maximus didn't think about it until it was brought to his attention by the Dwarves. The new sewage system was a massive improvement for the public health.

Roads were already created during the early stages of the Empire, but they were made quickly and without much effort since they needed a supply line to the other cities of the Empire, but now the roads have been improved with cement. In the cities you could see many roads and highways being made throughout the city making travel through the city less crowded and easier.

Social care and Welfare was created to help the orphans and poor children of the Empire eat and to educate them. The Orphans and the poorer children had worked their hardest in school, since they didn't want to waste this chance that the Emperor had given them. Most had wanted to be soldiers in the future and fight for the Emperor.

Surgery was another thing that was brought into the Empire since while there were surgeons in the world not many had the knowledge like the Romans did who built that knowledge off of the Greeks developments. Tools created by the Romans were brought into the world, as those that had wounds too severe could now be saved.

The Legal System which was made during the founding of the Empire had the concept of innocent until proven guilty. Maximus liked this, since not everybody is guilty of a crime that they were accused of, and this would allow them to prove themselves before a court where they will receive proper judgment.

One of the last things made was the Postal service, which will carry messages from one official to another throughout the Empire. Maximus wasn't in his old world where they had cellphones and such, and he couldn't be everywhere, and he needed to know what was going on in the border cities of the Empires or the outpost that were set up.

The Postal service had made communication easier and faster, but nothing will be faster than in his old world, where he could have just called the person he needed to speak to.

In the Palace, a hypocaust system was made to make it warmer. The hypocaust system was a heating mechanism somewhat similar to modern-day central heating, or radiant floor heating. These systems distributed heat from an underground fire throughout a space beneath the floor, raised by a series of concrete pillars. In addition, Romans also built flues into the walls, ensuring the heat had a path to warm higher floors, and could eventually escape safely through the roof.

The Last thing that was in the progress of being built was The Colosseum. Maximus thought that he couldn't truly build a Roman Empire without having the Colosseum. Plus, it would be a good way to make money and for people who want to show off their skills in fighting.

A/N: For the next chapter which will come out tomorrow a big time skip probably about 2 years will happen so that we can start getting into the War of the five Kings.

I haven't forgotten about the other free cities they will be brought into the fold soon and Volantis will become part of the Empire since Greg will marry Daenerys, Aerela, and Aleanna in a future chapter.
