6 Leveling Up

AN: Skills have been changed some so feel free to go back and look them over. Sorry for the late chapter.

"I'm a demon? Why was I not given a choice in the matter? Actually... I should learn about this world first before I take sides on anything." Kameron was pretty shocked but his shock quickly disappeared as his thoughts went back to thinking about how to leveling up.

"I can worry about this later. Right now I need to level up. I also need to eat soon so I wonder what I should do. If I follow this stream there is a possibility I could find a village using it as a source of water." He thought to himself while a breeze blew by his body.

Kameron shivered feeling his body get colder from the breeze. His damp clothes stuck to his body some but as he didn't bathe with them on they weren't super wet. By now the dark clouds have long since disappeared and the sun was shining bright beyond the sky.

"Let's just go walk in a straight line. If I do that I should be able to find the stream again if necessary."

Walking a few minutes through the forest, Kameron finally found his first foe. Taking out his sword from his inventory, he felt the weight of it slow him down some. "I need to increase my strength..." he thought as he walked as silently as possible towards the first animal he had seen all day.

A few steps away from Kameron, behind a patch of bushes, was a green rabbit the size of a five-year-old human.

Luckily it didn't hear him sneaking up to it. When Kameron judged that he was at an optimum range to attack he was started thinking something.

"Shouldn't I be able to see its level and stuff? Why didn't I get that skill yet? Do I need to unlock it myself?"

Feeling it was unnecessary to comment he just checked the skill description.

"Shouldn't I be able to kill it with one hit? If I remember my blessing correctly I might be able to catch it with the increased movement speed. Let's give it a try."

Taking a deep breath Kameron held his sword with both hands before dashing towards the rabbit. As he broke through the bushes the rabbit's ears had perked up. Unfortunately was too late as Kameron's sword reached the rabbit's neck before it could react anymore.

With a single downward swing of his sword, the rabbit's head went flying.

Kameron was shocked that he had gained so much experience. "Is it because of the level difference that I gained so much? It has to be..."

Looking down at the corpse of the rabbit he had killed he wondered if he should use Gluttony on it. "There are 10 slots for skills. The cooldown is also 5 minutes so it couldn't hurt."

Swapping the sword to his left hand, Kameron held out his right hand towards the rabbit. "Gluttony!" Instantly the runes on his arm lit up with a bright red. Lightning bolts shot out from his arm and streamed towards the rabbit before covering it.

Observing the process closely, he noticed the corpse of the rabbit slowly losing mass while its skin started to flake away. Suddenly the corpse started to break up into small pieces looking like grains of sand before being sucked in by the lightning and entering Kameron's palm.

A second later when the corpse was gone Kameron stared at his arm as he received a message from the system.

"Hmmm... it seems my new skill has been added to the skill slot of Gluttony. I'm also level 6 and now have 50 attribute points to use. I should put them into my strength and agility stat for now. I don't have enough mana to use my only magic skill so there is no need to worry about it now. Ohh I should put some into my endurance stat also."

With his decision made, Kameron put 20 points into his strength and agility stat while using the remaining 10 into his Endurance stat. After, he held his sword with his right hand and didn't feel as much weight as before with it. Taking a few swings he felt he could attack with only one hand on the sword but he decided to use both hands for a while.

Checking his health stat that was at 200 he ventured around the area killing rabbits until he reached level 10. It didn't take more than an hour to accomplish but with his level finally matching his prey, the experience gained per kill was lessened a lot.

"I can't kill rabbits anymore. I need to move on to bigger things." He said while storing the rabbit corpse into his inventory. He currently has 12 stacked up inside of his inventory and due to the frostbite effect from his sword, the rabbits didn't bleed from their wounds.

Deciding to add his 40 extra stat points into his agility and endurance. His health reached 400 while his agility at 50 allowed him to run at the limit a rank 0 person can reach.

After looking to the sky at the sun that was hanging overhead, Kameron estimated it was around 1 in the afternoon if he used earth-based calculations.

He wanted to hunt for another 2 or 3 hours before trying to find a village or town to sell the rabbits in.

(You should try devouring a bird. Then you could possibly gain a flying skill and search from the sky)

"That's a great idea, Ina! Except how am I supposed to kill a bird?"

(Figure it out yourself, I can't help you with everything)

"Well, still thanks for the h-"

(Ohh! I forgot to give this to you for reaching level 10. Teehee~)

Kameron was a bit annoyed with the late unlocking of the quest system. He had assumed that he needed to talk to people and gain a "Quest" before it was actually unlocked.

"Ina, can you please unlock things at the right time?" He asked in a slightly annoyed tone.

(Yes! I will from now on...)

Deciding to just ask about the new system reward he spoke to Ina while looking at the system menu.

"Ina, why is there an evolution system reward?"

(Ohh you want to know about that. Since you are a demon you can evolve. Your class choices will vary depending on what you devour and the innate skills you have while your evolution is uncontrollable and only related to your race and is unpredictable.)

Thinking of what to do, Kameron walked in a random direction while thinking to himself. "Should I find a bird or look for more animals to level up with?" He had enough time to do both so he decided to level up more.

"Even if I can't kill a bird today I should be able to level up more and possibly hit level 20. If I'm lucky..."
