1 Chapter 1

Every world has a different way of life. As for this one, this one has something special linked to it as well. The key word: soulmate. On every teen's 16th birthday, something very special happens that will change their life forever. When they turn 16, they are assigned with a special mission: to find their soulmate. Your soulmate, if you end up finding them, is the one you are destined to be with. But how would you find them you ask? There is a whole world that you would have to search! Well, everyone will also get a method of help but they vary in different ways. For example, you might be able to see what your soulmate sees or you might hear their thoughts. You might have to make life decisions for them and they might have to for you as well. You might receive items they have lost or have dreams that give you clues. It all may vary but if you cannot find your soulmate before you turn 18, you might be single....forever.... The story starts with one special girl. A girl like no other. Introducing...Serenity....

Serenity's POV

In a week, it will be my 16th birthday. I never thought it would come so quickly but I'm excited. I've been wanting the ability to see what my soulmate sees but we don't get to choose so I guess I'll just have to hope. I have an older brother named Jimin and I go to Hazelwood high school in Seoul, South Korea. I woke up this morning to see that my brother wasn't home so I got my phone and called him but he wouldn't pick up. Weird.... I walked to the bathroom and got ready for school. Tae, Jimin's friend, always picks me up for school so when he arrived, I got in his car and we both were driving towards the school.

Serenity: Hey Tae? Have you seen or heard from Jimin?

Tae: Jimin? Well he came over to our house yesterday to hang out and I lent him a room so I think he spent the night. But when I woke up, he wasn't there. Yoongi didn't know where he went either.

Serenity: That's weird. He wasn't answering my calls either. Do you think he is ok?

Tae: Maybe he is at school. Let's see when we get there.

Serenity: ok.

We arrived at school and we both got out of the car. Jennie and Namjoon and standing in front of the school, waiting for us.

Jennie: Hey Serenity!

Namjoon: Over here!

We run over to them.

Tae: Hey guys! Umm have you seen Jimin?

Jennie: No I still haven't seen him. Didn't he come over to our house to hang out with Yoongi?

Namjoon: I haven't seen him either. Why don't you ask your brother, Tae?

Tae: I have. He hasn't seen him.

???: Hey guys!

We turn around to see Rose running towards us.

Jennie: Hey Rose.

Rose: Hey! What are you guys standing around here for?

Tae: Jimin's gone missing.

Rose: Jimin? Well I just saw him on my way here. He was sitting on the benches.

Serenity: Really!?! Where?!?

Rose led us to the benches and sure enough, Jimin was there, with his head down.

Serenity: Jimin! WHERE WERE YOU!!! WE WERE WORRIED SICK!!

Jimin: Calm down sis....

Jennie: Jimin....what happened to you?

I looked at Jimin's arms and face more carefully and I could see cuts and bruises everywhere.

Tae: Did you get in a fight?

Serenity: Tell us what happened!

Jimin: Fine.....I'll tell you what happened. Serenity, ever since our parents died, we weren't able to find a job so we didn't have enough money to make a living. So, remember when one day I came back home and said I had won the lottery and brought home tons of cash?

Serenity: yeah.....

Jimin: I had borrowed the cash...from some street alley thugs. I told them I would pay them back but last night, they called me out because they wanted to see me. I couldn't refuse and they said my time was up. When I told them I didn't have any money, they...beat me up...

Tae and Jennie looked irritated.

Tae:...and you didn't think about how you could ask us for money? Excuse me??? Our parents are the CEO's of the biggest company in Korea!!

Jennie: If you had trouble, you should have told us and we would have helped you!

Jimin: I guess I just felt too embarrassed to bring it up.....sorry.

Serenity: Well what about those thugs? Are they coming back?

Jimin: No because one of them were about to kill me until the other guy stopped him and said," a life for a life."

Rose: A life for a life?

Jimin: I didn't know what it meant but I guess I was lucky.

I had tears in my eyes. I wanted to hug Jimin so badly so I practically jumped on him.

Jimin: So yeah I wanted to at least send Serenity into college so I-..

I jump on him and hug him as hard as I could.

Jimin: Serenity?

He hugs me back and I start tearing up.

Serenity: Never! Ever! Do that again! You were almost killed! What if you died! What would happen to me!?

Jimin: But I didn't die. Look I know our parents died but there is still our aunt and uncle to take care of us.

Serenity: yeah I know.

The school bell rings and we all stand up.

Rose: Jimin, you should get cleaned us in the nurse's office and we have to head to class.

Jimin: Ok.

Jennie: Come on, Serenity. He'll be fine.

I take Jennie's arm and we both walk over to class.
