Bringer of Retribution

All Daniel knew in his life was ridicule. As the bastard son of Satan and a human, he was not allowed to reveal his origins to any other being in Hell throughout his life. Now, he starts his high school career, and with the news of his father quitting his job as the demon lord of hell, Danny needs to decide what he will do: Will he support his half-brother in his ambition to become the next king of devils, or will he make his moves to take revenge against those who hurt him? All these thoughts go through his mind as he awakens new powers that relate to broken oaths and the true origins of the world. Did God create reality? Are the angels truly creatures of virtue? Why was Hell created? These questions and more are answered as he learns the world's mysteries and fights to protect his friends.

Vengeance And Lightning

Before being called to the arena, Danny walked in and took his place as he looked at the other side and his opponent, who made the same choice as him.

"You know. They keep calling you the smartest low-level demon. If you are the smartest, I want to be remembered as the strongest."

Hans Voltgoat said with a confident smile.

"Then I'll give this audience a battle to remember you by."

Danny made a sly smile as he bowed to his opponent.

"Thank you."

Hans Voltgoat said.

The announcer looked at his watch, and his pupils grew. These were the first two contestants, who were already at the arena when their fight was supposed to start!

"Ahem! Are you two ready?"

He asked, and they nodded.

"The first round of the second stage! Danniel, the smartest low-level demon! Against Hans Voltgoat!"

He shouted loudly, and the audience cheered.

These two opponents surprised the audience in the first stage, so people didn't know what to expect from their fight.

Hans Voltgoat's red eyes flickered as he snapped his finger to ignite his lightning spell.

Looking at those red eyes, Danny was reminded of his father. This Hans guy couldn't be another son of Satan, but these eyes were certainly similar to the king. Red eyes exuding confidence and superiority. Damn, Danny really wanted to defeat this guy!

"Imperium Magicae."

Danny whispered quietly to make sure his opponent didn't notice.

As the spell moved at lightning speed and Hans was confident in his victory, no one expected the spell to stop at the midpoint between the two demons.

What is this?! His spell has never failed before! Why was it failing him now?!

Hans started to freak out and snapped his fingers erratically.

"Imperium Magicae."

Danny whispered many times more.

All the lightning spells stopped in the middle just as the first did.

Danny's eyes flashed with a purple glow for a mere moment as he began dashing at his opponent.

He attacked Hans in a fistfight from the right so that the black-haired demon would leave his left side open to the lighting spells.

Hans landed a punch on Danny's face, and the white-haired demon was surprised.

He thought Hans would be weak, but he really wasn't. The black-haired demon had strength almost like that of a medium-level Oni demon, which was rather impressive.

But this punch didn't matter. It was too late. The lightning spells cast by Hans had already hit him, and he was killed and revived over and over by the electricity playing with his heart.

Before long, he passed unconscious, and Danny used his magic control to stop the constant attacks.

"I hope you grow stronger and show me the true strength of the strongest low-level demon next time."

Danny said to the unconscious Hans Voltgoat and left the arena.

********

Danny walked into the preparation room and saw his friends looking at him.

"I didn't overuse my magic quite yet. These were a lot of high-level spells, but it was only for a short period of time."

Danny said.

"That was an impressive fight. I'd sure like someone as strong as you by my side."

Marcuse said happily.

"And I'm your best friend, so there's no need to mention it."

Danny shrugged it off.

"And what if we'll be on opposing sides in the fight for the next demon king?"

Marcuse tried to push harder. If he could make Danny's only choice be joining him, he would hit the jackpot.

"It's fine. You'll probably fight against the leader of my faction and not against a lowly member like me."

Danny answered.

'That bastard wasn't budging!'

Marcuse thought angrily.

"If anything, fighting you won't be a good thing. Even in this fight, just now, I beat him so quickly and decisively because his red eyes reminded me of M-"

Danny was about to mention Mephisto in front of a room that only half of it knew that he was Satan's son, and the other half shouldn't know.

Danny didn't trust Marcuse's harem enough to tell them something that no one should know.

"Well, the next fight is Alya against Tsuyoi Aka. Do you have anything you want to say before I teleport you to the arena?"

Danny asked the green-haired senior.

Alya looked at Alaparos and lifted her thumb with a determined look.

"Okay, that's it."

She smiled and looked at Danny.

"Tēza Yātarā."

Danny chanted, and with a slight glow of his purple eyes, she was teleported to the arena.

********

Alya appeared at the arena, and the force of the teleport made her "assets" wiggle slightly, and the crowd roared.

"Are the two participants ready?"

The announcer looked at the two opponents. They nodded without a glimpse of hesitation.

"The second round of the second stage! The idol of the second-years, Alya! Versus Tsuyoi Aka from the Oni Clan!"

To the sound of the announcer's words, the crowd cheered, and the fight began.

Tsuyoi aimed a punch at Alya's head. The green-haired demoness didn't seem to care and ran straight toward her opponent.

'She is running into the punch?! This is going to be such an easy win!'

Tsuyoi thought happily.

But as his punch was only millimeters from her face, she slipped.

"?!"

The audience was shocked.

"Alquat Almuhaymina."

To prevent her from hitting the ground, she put her hand forward and chanted a wind blast spell to the ground.

The spell pushed against the earth and blasted her upwards. Coincidently enough, Tsuyoi was right over her as she flew right at him and hit him with a strong force.

Tsuyoi never expected this. Was she a fighting genius?! She fell at the perfect opportunity to evade him and then used a spell that returned her to her feet while hitting him. She must have been a hidden master!

Tsuyoi stood on his feet and planned to aim another at his opponent, but where was she?!

The entire arena was covered by haze. When Alya used the wind spell on the ground, she pushed the sand onto the earth and made a fog that prevented the ability to see what was happening in the arena.

Then, a light appeared.

"So that's where you are!"

Tsuyoi snarled and dashed toward the light.

'She used fire magic to help her see?! What a dumbass.'

The Oni laughed in his head.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

His steps were heard loudly.

********

'What is this? I used a spell to not fall, and now everything is so foggy! Did I die?!'

Alya thought.

She used a fire spell to help her see, but it wasn't very effective.

Then, a booming sound was heard.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The noise was getting louder.

In an act of desperation, Alya punched into the fog toward the noise, and her fist made contact!

Boom!

Tsuyoi was hit right in the face.

She made contact?!

What was in that fog?!

Alya started worrying and lifted her hand toward the figure in the fog.

"Crepitus!"

She chanted, and a massive fireball was shot in Tsuyoi's direction.

In a matter of seconds, the fireball cleared the fog, and Tsuyoi was found unconscious with burns all over his body and a punch mark on his face.

"The winner of the second fight of the second stage is the idol of the second-years, Alya!"

The announcer called, and the crowd cheered.

********

Alya returned to the preparation room with a bigger smile than after her previous fight.

"Hey, Little Alaparos. I avenged you! Ain't I the best?"

She said with an endearing smile.

"Yes, you did well."

Alaparos answered, and Alya's cheerful smile grew.

"So the next to fight is us."

Marcuse said to Chaos, who didn't bother answering and just started heading to the arena.
