Bright Academy

School for gifted students is an understatement. Bright Academy was a school on an isolated island in the middle of the ocean. Felix Oppong was one of the over thirty students in the forty square kilometer sized college, for good reason...

My mother's eyes fluttered open but she sensed a faint blue blob appear behind her, in the midst of a mixture of a rainbow of different colours.

She looked around and saw the doctor, smiling.

She started shedding tears as she asked,"What has happened to my baby?"

He then said,"He's perfectly fine, Mrs Oppong was actually able to heal your umbilical cord to be as good as new, you are going to conceive naturally."

My mom started crying tears of joy as he continued,"The light outbursts may continue until you give birth but apart from that, everything is expected to be normal."

"But where is my daughter in law? I must show her how grateful I am."

"She thought it best to let you rest, and she wanted to meet with her husband at your home."He replied.

My mom smiled then silently thanked Anneliese then felt slightly drowsy after that.

Anneliese was still waiting for me when a cool breeze blew on her face and at that moment she said,"You're welcome..."

Crops were literally smoking and people choking as the humidity levels in the air were almost zero, so low, there was nothing to balance the vapour pressure of the water in the plants, making them over transpire and over heat, the people also couldn't breathe because of the low atmospheric moisture levels.

People just on the eastern side of the continent were being drenched in torrential downpours which started about an hour ago and were expected to last for several weeks to come due to the atmospheric river feeding the clouds from the west.

There were floods carrying property away, uprooting the largest trees and washing away everything they touched.

The people were not used to this kind of rain, in the centre of the continent, there was an El Niño kind of weather with several thunderstorms bringing much more positively charged lightning than rationally possible.

With Sprites, Halos, Blue jets and Jet Starters accompanying them, these rare and beautiful phenomena only masked the danger that was evident all around.

The people thought climate change had finally caught up with them...on a single continent.

No one knew why this was happening until the culprit came forward, me. I was going to do exactly what the future Apollo didn't want to happen, I was going to clear the entire human population, one continent at a time, and save the world in my own eyes.

Saving the world from overexploitation of its limited resources and most of all, saving enlightened humans from oppression from normal humans and making that utopia he was talking to me about.

Hail stones the size of golf balls had been raining all over the northern side of the continent and blizzards were raiding the south.

It was very tiring for me to sustain such diverse and extreme weather forms all around the continent and that drained my energy reserves, I was always too tired for all of Anneliese's drama, so often made her forget about arguing with me, until one day...

"What kind of idiot are you?!"Anneliese yelled.

"Anneliese, I'm too tired to argue right now, I'm going to bed."

"You are not going to ignore me! Not again! What is wrong with you?! Now you don't care about anything other than your selfish and morbid craving for revenge, on your own son!"

"That impossibility is not my son, he killed my daughter."

"That was a version of him that hasn't happened yet!"

"Oh yet, so you know that he will eventually become like that."

"For good reason! Look at you, I wouldn't be surprised if your own grandson came back here to stop you from your world destructive behavior."

"What is up with you?!"

"You don't even know your mother's child almost died, or that her husband just abandoned her when she needed him the most!"

I was silent for a few seconds, had this really happened?

She yelled for me to speak then I yelled back,"It is all because of Apollo, I can't stay here any longer, I'm leaving and I'm not returning till he's gone."

Then I vanished.

Anneliese just burst into tears till she sensed something then smiled within her tears...

I was within a kilometer wide tornado in the centre of the newest continent I was rampaging when I sensed two children standing within the whirling winds.

My heart softened as I looked back to see them then the winds dissipated as I descended with tears in my eyes then I called,"Lilith?"

She started running towards me and I also ran towards her, speeding myself up to a speed of about 410km/h then I slowed down when near enough and she jumped into my arms and hugged me.

I held her face in my hands as she also cried then I said,"I thought you died."

"My best friend saved me."She said.

I looked behind her to see Apollo, who looked as shy as he was ashamed.

He wanted to leave us alone but at that moment, all the hatred I had borne against him disappeared then I ran and lifted him into the air.

He looked at me for a few seconds before hugging me as well then I said,"Apollo, I'm so sorry for how I have been treating you all this time..."

"Dad, there's nothing to forgive, you are the best father I could ever ask for."He replied.

I hugged them both again...
