Levina yawned lazily when the carriage wobbled for the millionth time. Her neck was numb from leaning against the coach door and her head hurt from the sound of the horses' hooves pounding against the ground and the coach wobbling from every bump it hits.

Her eyelid flickered open when the coach hit another bump. She wasn't ready to be conscious yet, but it was clear she would not be getting any more sleep. Her gaze wandered out the window, the dark red curtain kept much of the sunlight out.

She yawned again. She was probably going to regret going with Lucien, but she wouldn't start now, no.

Images from the previous night came flooding back as the fog in her sleepy head began to fade. She could clearly see her father's face when she told him she was leaving with Lucien, he almost didn't believe it. ..

..."What?" Augustus had sprung up from where he sat by the fireplace.

"I am leaving with Lucien for camp," she had repeated, afraid to look him in the eye.
