Con.

Alex was in his system space. After the beatdown, it was pretty much confirmed that he won't be able to hold onto his consciousness for any longer.

He was grateful to the one-legged instructor. System space was not affected by his mental state, which was a realization that had cost him quite a lot.

Inside of the system, he sat down and started meditating. It was the only thing he could do, aside from actual sleep, because his body was in emergency mode. He couldn't continue practicing physical exercises because that would put excessive pressure on an already healing body, slowing the process.

While meditating, he started looking back at his current journey. The fear hadn't gone away, it had just been pushed aside due to today's events. He was feeling happy while reminiscing about the 3 years he had spent in this body and this world.

From the Kramer twins to his mother, to all the annoying and over the top people that he had met along the way, he was actually happy for getting to experience so many new things that had been only a dream for his former self when he was a kid. Sure, he was an assassin, but these were one of the first times that he had actually felt that he belonged. These people might want to exploit him for all he's worth, but he was happy that he was aware of this fact. He knew that up to this point, everyone in this world was his enemy, be it an active or a dormant one.

The smile grew wider. His bloodlust was at his peak, and he started to embrace his other side, the side which wanted him to get out of his bubble of caution. If he didn't trust anyone, then it was really simple. Wasn't everyone an enemy? Then why is he afraid to open up? Why does it matter that they want him to come closer to them? Wasn't it actually better than acting all distant and losing their trust?

If he couldn't trust anyone, then wasn't it better to make everyone count on him?

Emotional fluctuations. His Body not being under his own control. All because his way of thinking was weak. Was it really that much of an issue that some nobodies that didn't matter anymore were haunting his life? Couldn't he just ignore them?

"No."

Wasn't it easy to just push them aside?

"You wish."

Why does any of his past life matter?

"Because you can't get over it."

'Argh! Then what am I supposed to do?'

Alex opened his eyes and started pulling his hair. Should he just give up?

"Just like last time."

He was grinding his teeth with all of his strength.

"Anger. Nothing has changed."

Why is it so hard?

"It isn't."

Then why isn't there any help?

"Because you can't trust anyone."

His head was hurting like hell. Was this a problem that was going to continue for his entire life?

"Not necessarily."

Can you give me a way out of this mess?

"Then what do you have yourself for?"

Aren't you me?

"Not even if you were the last man on earth."

Is my life that difficult?

"Pfft. Not at all. In fact, it is too easy."

Then why doesn't it feel like it?

"Because you refuse to exploit and reap benefits."

What Benefits?

"A whole world to pillage, and you decided to be a goody-two-shoes."

Doesn't answer my question.

"Oh, it does."

Alex started to look deeper into the words that had been thrown back at him by his own consciousness.

"Whatever you think most of the time, is a complete waste of time in itself. You don't have to forget."

But what is the explanation for this problem?

"Like I said, a Goody-Two-Shoes. Still refusing to take off the blindfold."

Can you be any clear?

"I am only as clear as you want me to be."

'Get Out Of My HEAD!"

Alex was struggling to come to terms with himself. What else could he do?

"Stop being such a wuss."

'I am NOT A WUSS!"

"Then pillage everything. Conquer everything. You are an assassin. Leave the false perception of yourself behind."

Silence.

The smile returned.

This time however it was reminiscent of a smile that he hated, the reason for all his current problems.

"That's right. Pillage everything for yourself."

------------------------------------------------

Alex had been lying unconscious for 2 more days. Lucius was having a headache because according to his vitals, he must have woken up hours ago. For some reason, he was refusing to wake up.

Clara was glaring daggers at Wei. She had been the first person to reach the training ground after Alex had been dragged away by him, and the bloodied look on his face had enraged her so much, that she had actually shot him with her personal Handgun.

"You don't have anything to do here, go back to whichever hole you came out of!"

She didn't even consider Wei to be human. Being overprotective for most of her life, if looks could kill, he would have been dead already.

Lucius looked at his wife, enraged. When it came to these types of moments, he was really a man of few words. But his wrath could never be underestimated.

She looked straight back at him. She wasn't a pushover either.

"You two, calm down. When he wakes up, I will apologize, so quit this staring contest."

Wei intervened. He didn't want them to fight because of him.

"Shut Up!"

In sync, both of them shouted at Wei.

He sighed. Just as he was about to leave the room, he saw Alex open his eyes. He pointed towards him with a smug look on his face, and the couple immediately diverted all of their attention towards the kid lying on the bed.

"Thank God! You are alright. Why do you keep getting yourself in so much trouble?"

Clara was the first one to react. Alex was completely fine, so he decided to return an answer with a smile on his face.

"Thank you for taking care of me."

He kept bowing towards his benefactors.

Wei was included in this gesture of gratitude, so he felt a bit awkward, but Alex lifted his head and nodded towards him.

"And I am really sorry for my behavior towards everyone until this point. I will change myself for the better."

Clara was feeling really emotional. The kid had finally cracked. After spending so much time trying to get close to him, she was extremely happy that he had himself torn down all of his defenses and allowed them to be important in his life. She immediately hugged the kid, and tears started flowing down from her eyes. Crocodile tears, but still, tears.

Alex just sat there and patted her head. Operation pillage had finally been initiated, and he had already found 2 enemies that were in this room.

Wei and Lucius.

Both of them felt that something was wrong. The kid was looking genuine, but they couldn't help but think that he was hiding something from them.

Alex noticed this. He was already expecting them to have their own reservations about this entire situation, but that wasn't going to be a problem. It was time to Con the hell out of everyone.

Tomorrow 2 chapters. Just because I feel like it.
