Ballroom Waltz, The Final Act.

Act 4. The final act.

Alex looked at his watch. This was probably the only thing that could help him right now, and he decided to use it to his favour. He was still running.

He pressed the dial. A very light radio signal was released, aiming straight for the van.

Inside the van, Steven received the distress signal. It was a signal for an emergency plan, which was to deactivate the lights as soon as possible.

And he did that. He decided to wait and see what will happen next because an emergency could only mean that he didn't need to do anything else. Alex was going to kill Micah.

The lights had gone off. Alex still couldn't see, but he already knew the location of the two bodyguards. He plucked out the poison strings and dipped them inside of the water in a glass on one of the tables. Slowly, his eyes started to adapt to the darkness.

The Strings turned into needles, and before the bodyguards could have their eyes adjust to the darkness, they died. Alex was panting because it was really hard to pull this off. He continued towards Elias because he was now essential to this mission.

As he reached him, he immediately jumped and whispered in his ears.

"Are you ready to take the responsibility for your actions?"

He turned his head, only to find a kid standing in front of him. Alex asked him again, this time with a resolute expression.

"Are you ready to take responsibility for your actions?"

Looking at his expression, he finally understood He couldn't care less about him. He wanted Elias to take responsibility for what he was about to do.

"Yes."

He took his right hand, placed the needle in it, and said,

"You killed him. This will be painful for both of you, but you will come out as a winner."

He took one of the needles and threw it towards Micah. The senator, who was an old man, still wasn't able to see clearly, and the rest of them were crouching, trying to protect themselves.

It pierced his heart. Even without the poison, Micah was already dead.

"Your turn."

Alex said this, with a cold expression on his face.

"HahahahahahahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH"

Lisa, I am coming home. This time, I will never let you feel pain.

He pierced the needle, directly through his chest, into the heart.

Alex fell, pretending he was punched.

The mission had succeeded. He signalled Steven to turn the lights on using the watch.

The lights turned back on. Everyone got up and looked towards the man, who had a needle pierced in his heart. The Bodyguards and Senator were also on the floor, dead.

Mona, who was looking around for Alex, wound him on the ground.

"He is safe. He is safe. Thank God."

She felt like a burden had been taken off of her chest. She ran towards him, worried.

Nadia did the same. She had seen how much courage Alex had shown in such a difficult situation. For her, she was like a real action hero. A reckless one, but still, a hero.

Claudia followed her friend. She had seen the entire even happen in front of her eyes, so she was not worried too much.

"Are you alright?"

Mona reached him first. Alex was crouching on the ground, his expression showing that he was in a lot of pain. It had only been 2 minutes.

"Ouch! That guy punched me so hard!"

Alex decided to let his noble persona diminish, and acted like a child.

Mona looked at him and palmed her head. She was really angry at him for being too reckless, but his current expression was making it hard for her to control her laugh.

The people inside of the ballroom looked at Alex, and some started to giggle. The event had been horrific for most of them, so they were still afraid, but what Alex did made them feel that this kid was a hero. And seeing their hero wince in pain, they couldn't help but break a smile, seeing that he was alright. If he died, everyone in the room would be feeling ashamed.

Nadia also reached Alex, inspecting his face. Alex wanted to act defiant, but she wasn't having any of it.

It wasn't too serious, but there was a little swelling on his cheek.

"Are you insane? Why did you take such a rash step?"

Alex looked at her, tears flowing down from his face. He answered with,

"None of your business. If I want to protect someone, I will protect them. You are nobody to ask me that question."

Mona blushed again. She thought that she was the person Alex was trying to protect.

"Whatever! Do what you want!"

She was fed up with his attitude. This kid didn't even try to give her any face.

And so, the night ended. The police arrived shortly after, and they asked Alex some questions regarding the event, but that was standard procedure. Alex answered them with made-up information, hiding the main facts.

Mona had to leave before Alex. Her parents patted his head and took their child back home. Alex was able to pass her a note before they left, and that was that.

Claudia left with Alex, and there was no further conversation between him and Mona. Alex had given her a note, but that was probably the last time they were going to meet.

Nadia had called her own driver. She left without even saying goodbye to Claudia, which was out of character for her.

Mona was crying the entire night, while she held the note in her hand tightly.

And so, the final act has concluded.

Many loopholes left, but don't worry, I will address them in the next chapter. Mona could make a comeback in the future, but don't count on it.

Tomorrow, 2 chapters and one special chapter. 50 chapters and 20k views special.
