Asher dropped his phone call with his brother to open the door. He knew his wife would never knock before entering and Starr was still learning the concept of knocking too.

He opened the door and even though he knew that seeing Maya was a possibility, he was genuinely surprised to see her by the door clutching her backpack.

"Morning, Maya" Asher was puzzled but he kept it out of his voice.

"Good morning, Asher. I am ready"

"Ready for…" his voice trailed off as he waited for Maya to fill him in.

"The agreement was that I spend the night then I am out of your hair" Maya smiled warmly at him.

Asher couldn't blame her. They were strangers to each other but something must have changed from yesterday to this morning because what he did next surprised even himself.

"How do you feel about waffles?" Asher asked her.

"Waffles?" Maya asked him back.
