Asher stopped the car and turned to her.

"If I tell you that I am the most powerful man in the world and I have riches to buy whatever I need except one thing I really need to save the girl I love most in the entire world, will you believe me?" Asher held her gaze for a few seconds before Pepper shook her head angrily and looked away.

"You are delusional or maybe you don't want to let me in" Pepper murmured.

"Right" 

He watched her briefly before he drove off again

The drive to the field was quiet. When they got there, Asher took Star to the baseball field to throw some balls while Pepper sat down on the bench.

As they walked down the field, Asher could see that something was bothering his daughter and if he was going to teach her anything about baseball then it was better they talked about whatever it was that was bothering her.

"Are you alright?"

The girl stopped walking and faced him.
