117 Meeting with York

A few days had gone by after the meeting with all the officers onboard. Kita had delegated much of his work to his officers. And they in turn delegated their works onto others.

This way, everything was going pretty smoothly. Kita was checking in on everyone about the progress of everything and he was pleased to see that everyone was giving it their best.

Nova had made good progress on hauling in the administration department of the ship. He had single handedly recruited over 40 people already and that's on top of everything else he was doing.

The guy was efficient, Extremely so. Even Kita couldn't refute that.

The ship upgrades were also going along quite nicely. There hadn't been any hiccups till now.

He had a meeting with Hugo about it this morning, and it seemed that the engineering bay would be ready to install a second FTL drive within 4 days.

After Kita finished his other duties this morning, he picked up Noir from his lazing space and headed out.

York would be arriving today. So Kita went to their planned meeting spot. It was a typical resturant. Kita ordered a Coffee as he took a seat.

No later than he started flipping the menu had York arrived.

"Hey man! How're you doing these days?" York asked as he sat before him.

"Just going by. What's up with you? You're looking... Fancy? What's the occasion?" Kita asked as he inspected York's attire.

York was wearing a fancy tailored business attire. Kita didn't normally see him in such an attire. The York he knew hated these kinds of things.

"Oh, it's nothing I have a meeting with one of the sellers of a certain exotic this evening. He insists on meeting personally. As an envoy of Dr. Kbom I can't appear shabby right?" York said in a playful manner as he ordered himself a coffee.

"I see. How many exotics have you managed to sang?" Kita asked in a curious manner.

"About 16 of them. There were a lot of interesting exotics that poped up in the auctions. Dr. Kbom got me to buy all of them."

"I see. I am in need of a few exotics myself. Have to rebuild my equipment. Maybe I should give the exotic market a visit."

"You definitely should. Although it's really competitive. I think you'll be able to find the exotics you're looking for."

"Anyway, How's life been?" York asked as he took a sip of his coffee.

"Pretty good. Preparing for the future I guess" Kita replied as he also took a sip.

"Heard you bought a ship? How's that been going?"

"Well, pretty hectic. Need to do a lot of things before she's ready for voyage. But it's all slowly coming together."

"Who's this little guy by the way?" York suddenly asked as he looked at Noir who was sitting on the table licking himself.

"His name's Noir. I picked him up from a cat Café. He's surprisingly intelligent!" Kita said as he shoved Noir over to York

York took him and looked at him.

"Hmm. Aren't you a cutie?"

"Meow" Noir replied.

"Ah, I see you understand me! That's great!"

York patted Noir a few times before letting him go. Noir hopped on the table. And continued to lick himself.

"By they way, Dr. Kbom sent something for you. It's pretty big so it's not with me right now. Should I send it over to your ship later?"

"Dr. Kbom sent something? What is it?" Kita asked.

"I don't know. It's a pretty big container from the Kbom Industries. It could be anything."

"I see. Okay then, send it to the Ship later. You wanna come and see my ship?"

"I thought you weren't gonna ask."

Kita settled the bill before he and York walked out of the Restaurant. They both reached the Jeager shorty.

"Woah! Is this your ship? Damn She's pretty!" York said as he looked at the Jeager.

And by all means, The Jeager was a pretty ship. Her exterior had a pretty good design that was pleasing to the eye and the coloration was also pretty good.

Kita and York headed to the inside.

Kita gave York a tour of the ship. From the engineering bay and the Lab, to the bridge, storage and everything.

Their little tour concluded at the communications section.

As he and York entered the room, York suddenly froze as he saw Elena.

Elena on the other hand was overjoyed to see York.

She got up from her seat and approached the duo.

"Yo, York! How've you been?" She said with a playful smile.

"Dude, Why's she here?" York asked for answers as he looked at Kita.

"Well, I needed someone to handle the communications and other stuff, That's why..."

"That's why He hired me." Elena cut him off before he could finish.

"You couldn't find any other hacker in galaxy? There are literally so many others who're looking for a job and are better than what this women can do." York said.

"Hey, what do you mean better than me? I'm literally one of the top 10 hackers in the empire! Who do you know that can do a better job than me?"

"Literally anyone off the streets is better than you."

"Oh? Is that so?"

Elena and York broke out into a squabble.

"sigh. These two again!" Kita released a sigh.

He had thought something like this might have happened when he bought York to here.

"Stop it you two. You're not kids" Kita stopped the two of them.

"Anyway, I'll head out of here. I can't stand staying in a room with this women." York said as he turned to walk out of the room.

"On the contrary. I think you should join us! Join Kita's crew." Elena changed her tone as she suggested.

"Huh? Why would I do something you suggested? Even if I wanted to join Kita in his voyage. I don't want to work on a ship that you're on."

"Ah. Don't hate me so much. Come here, I'll tell you a secret." Elena said as he pulled York away from Kita and headed to a corner in her office.

She activated a privacy wall before starting to talk.

While they were doing this, Kita thought about the situation. York joining him would be a huge boon. He was one of the people he could trust the most. And he could also use another researcher. He only had himself currently. So having York would be a huge help.

But he doubted that York would want to join him. He had a pretty good career in the military. Leaving that to join someone on a voyage towards the unknown was just foolishness.

So, he didn't expect much.

Soon their little meeting had concluded as they both came back.

York looked drained for some reason.

"Look, York, you don't need to joi..."

"I'll join. I still have something I need to do before I can come. But give me a week. I'll arrange things with the military and Dr. Kbom." York said in an low voice.

"Huh?"
