1 The war between worlds

"so. I really went back…to think that I'd be blessed by the deity's hand." A youth said out loud in an empty room that seemed awfully familiar, yet also very foreign.

Stepping outside his room the youth made his way outside and soon gazed upon a large portal in the middle of the city district's plaza that wasn't covered up at all. Contrasting the bright morning sun like a black abyss.

'It really is that day…. a double layered deity's hand… to think that it would happen a second time in the history of mankind.'

The youth continued reminiscing whilst gazing at the giant black portal, whilst slowly calming down from his initial shock.

"six years…The deity's hand really sent me back in time to the first day the portals appeared.

I got a fresh start thanks to the deity's hand, so I better set things right. This time, humanity must win! As for that backstabbing ghost pavilion… ill make them regret every single death they caused back then!

The youth finalised his dark train of thought and made his way over to an old-fashioned office supplies store for some paper and other supplies to note things down.

Paper could almost be considered old fashioned in this day and age and six years later all these office supply stores would likely not even be selling paper anymore.

'The announcement should have been made a couple days ago, so my preparation time is limited. I have six years' worth of experience and knowledge about the other world in my head, so I better write as much of it down as possible.

Especially information about the early days to avoid missing any details in my memory that might be more important than they seem at first, but there's no way that I'm writing all that down through any online medium that can be hacked or spied on by powerful individuals or companies.'

The store owner soon noticed the youth who entered his small store whilst lost in thoughts.

"Greetings, may I help you with anything?"

"Yes, do you happen to have any paper, file folders,…"

The youth excitedly made his way back home after exiting the store with his bought materials, where he instantly started writing pages upon pages of information about the last six years of memories. Writing everything down also made him recall lots of details that could easily be overlooked when just thinking about the gruesome events which might be critical in the future.

<Mo Shan [Boundless] notes year 1>

<Mo Shan federation notes year 1>

…..

Slowly but surely the handsome youth managed to write most of the critical information from the last six years of memories down, both in game things and major events he remembered from the federation itself. After which he classified it all per year and stored it away in a classified high tier fingerprint locked box in his basement, only leaving out the <year one> information which he placed on his desk.

Looking at the setting sun the youth decided to do some research on the star web to freshen up on his knowledge and fill in the vague blanks about the time before the portal opened. Altogether four days had passed since Mo Shan went to the office supply store and wrote everything down. the opening of the portal should only be a couple hours away now.

Looking at all the forums online the youth easily recalled how clueless and wrong the federation was about these portals that were about to open.

<deity's hand announcement! Hidden information discovered!!>

<another announcement from the skies! Experts' analysis, read it now!>

Mo Shan noticed many viral forum posts about the announcement which happened a couple days ago, yet these guesses and speculations made in these posts couldn't be more wrong.

Mo Shan also looked up on the previous Deity's hand 'events' in order to find any extra info about what happened to him, yet no connection or logic in these events was found.

'Deity's hand' is what humans of the federation called supernatural phenomena that are proven to be supernatural. In other words, these events are likely caused by a civilisation or 'god' who can bend the laws to their own will ignoring any form of logic.

Hence why people call them deity's hand, since one of the most popular theories on the star web dictates that these events are caused by a god watching humanity, likely causing these events as a form of entertainment. The reason this theory is widely supported is due to the "deity" often announcing major deity's hand's events through a telepathic message to every human in the federation.

The first one happened a couple hundred years ago suddenly allowing people to sense a mysterious form of energy that previously remained undetected, right after hearing a voice in their head announcing it.

Every single human could suddenly sense this energy and scientists soon after managed to harness it to allow cheap interstellar travel and colonisation. To date this energy is still the foundation of the federation which allowed humanity to skip thousands of years of development in the span of a couple years.

These deity's hand "events" happened every couple dozen years from that point onwards some being very minor and others very major.

The second one only affected a single person and wasn't announced by the so-called deity. It allowed the person to harness the power of vitality. Thus, being able to heal any creature in a matter of minutes no matter how severe the injury or incurable the disease.

His power is what made the medicine field advance by leaps and bounds making the average human lifespan easily reach 200 years.

The richest humans in the federation were even rumoured to have lived since the first deity's hand!

'To think that this deity's hand would happen to me. I thought that second chance token I received back then would allow me to revive once without losing my level just like the revival tokens…turns out it literally sent me back in time and gave me an actual "second chance".'

Whilst counting down the time for the portal to open Mo Shan continued reminiscing about past events whilst reading his notes about the first year in [boundless]…Until he heard that all to familiar voice in his head just like any other human in the federation.

"Humans of the federation, A week ago I created the portals in every major city's gathering point of your federation and announced that it would lead to a second chance for humanity. You have been at war with the dark humanoid races in this corner of the universe for several hundred years, which ends today! Too many planets have been destroyed in your fights.

So, starting today, you will fight it out in the realm I created, based on those very entertaining games both races love to play. Entertain me well, puny carbon-based lifeforms…. the first race to kill my representative in that world, will get to choose what happens to the losing race. Let the Carbon Games…BEGIN!"

Mo Shan remembered this moment very well. Both the humanoid and demonic race have been in a war for hundreds of years destroying many planets in the process, but today all that will end, the war will be fought out in that realm, and it had just been opened!

__________

One hour later, the swirling black portal in the plaza seemed to emit a suction force and all the humans gathered in the plaza instantly got sucked in, Mo Shan included.

The world before him was mostly black, like a void. Mo Shan couldn't even see his own hands…or well, hand. And a couple hundred meters away in that same void he could see white numbers floating above him, slowly counting down.
