Chapter 5.12 - Announcement Rites

After activating announcement rites, Serin found himself pulled back to the white space. Sitting across from him was Guide, although now looking almost as the genetic twin of the attendants of the adventurer's guild. Albeit the attendants were always female in appearance while Guide looked male.

Guide smiled, "Someone did their homework, and none too soon it seems."

Serin looked quizzically. Guide smiled, "you took territory outside your starting region. Eventually your neighbors would notice it. But i digress."

And with that Guide pretended to clear his throat, mimicking human behavior in a playful manner while producing a scroll to read.

"Congratulations Serin, Lord of… you have a name now right?"

Serin smiled, "The nation is called Haven." Guide smiled, "simple. I like it. No need for flowery text. Congratulations Serin, Lord of Haven, for commencing Announcement rites. From now until a week after the completion of your rite, you are hereby required to guarantee freedom from harm from your peoples to all of those that carry a diplomatic seal.." guide produced one and handed it to Serin, "additionally as this is the formal announcement you must prepare a celebration, banquet, and gala for all attending parties." At this the Guide produced a list of possible attendees.

Serin looked at the list, The first three nations he was expecting, which were the Northern Kingdoms, the Grand Forest Alliance, and the Sarween Technocracy. There was a fourth name Serin was not expecting.

"I have never heard of this Nation, The Kingdom of Thul. Who are they?"

Guide smiled, "Well at the moment they are a sovereign nation, although they have not expanded past their capital. You will have a chance to ask them yourselves as I cannot speak past that, it would be unfair you see."

Serin understood. "Other than the guidelines in this document you have given me, is there anything else required?"

Guide smiled, "Before when watching your fledgling town I was worried that your lack of teeth would spell your doom. I am less worried now. You only need to do what befits your kingdom. And of course, do break the rules of common courtesy. These are diplomats that will be visiting, not invaders. Such as you are not to harm them, they cannot harm you. Now I have said all that I can on the event. But I must be going shortly. Many more people to talk to today, including the leaders or stewards of other nations."

Serin looked at Guide, "I rather enjoy our talks, is there a way for us to speak again?"

Guide smiled, "It is not our way to tell you how to do things, but I also rather enjoy our talks. Such as there are Manuals of foundation, there are other manuals in the world. Seek out the Manual of Piety. If you should find a copy, it will answer all your questions."

Serin was grateful. "Thank you Guide. The Attendant says hello by the way."

Guide smiled, "Serin, if you would do me a favor, it would be much appreciated."

Serin smiled, "Of course. What can I do for you?"

Guide smiled, "Tell the Attendant 'The fox is waiting'. She will understand."

Serin was confused, but the request seemed harmless, so it didn't seem like much. One of the pages, his personal missions page, then started tracking the mission.

With that, Serin bowed and said, "How about next time I host?"

The Guide genuinely laughed, "Pray that day never comes Lord Serin."

Serin then realized he might ask him about that next time they meet, if he remembered.

Serin returned to the council meeting and relayed the information he had been presented. It was a bit shocking because as he had been standing there a moment before and now he had a set of documents and a scroll in his hand. With that the counsel sat and discussed as Serin relayed the rules of the Announcement.

"When is the announcement?"

Serin smiled, "Two weeks. Enough time to prepare."
