12: How to get her to say "I LOVE YOU"

On getting into the house, the three families were already gathered. Flora rubbed her head and could only look at Frank worriedly. He was sandwiched and surrounded by 3 drooling old women.

"Can you 3 give him space hmmn?" Flora asked as she pulled Frank up and sat far from the grandmothers.

"We are just eager to meet the first in-law," Flora's mom said with a satisfied smile. The others in the room nodded along in acknowledgement.

The 3 families have been close for many generations. They just needed the three new generation girls to be happy in love. If the girls were happy, the whole family was happy with them. If they cried, the whole family cried with them. Seeing Flora satisfied, they were all satisfied along with her.

"We won't be lightbulbs. We just wanted to check him out," her dad said, urging everyone to disperse.

The main topic of discussion never got the chance to say a word. He was bewildered by the size of the family.

"Young man, when she's ready, you can come over for a formal visit. We didn't mean to scare you."

"Make sure to take care of her."

"She's the first one to leave the nest."

While the elders were dropping off words of wisdom, Seraphina squinted her eyes at Frank as if trying to read his mind.

"I've got my eyes on you buddy," she said walking out the door.

Claudia laughed awkwardly, "ignore her, she's the youngest and sort of protective."

When everyone left, Flora looked at Frank apologetically.

"It's okay. I was bound to meet them sooner or later."

"At least they like you," she tiptoed to steal a kiss from him.

He didn't stay long before heading home.

As always, the couple talked at bedtime about whatever topic popped in their heads.

"Okay. I'll send my new schedule to you tomorrow."

"Alright. You should sleep early too."

Since noone was hanging up, silence took over.

"Is there something you wanna say to me?" Frank's husky voice broke through the quietness.

"Like what?" Flora's drowsy voice drifted over.

"Like a confession. How much you adore me? Or like me? Or even love me?"

"I'm confused."

Frank noticed that she sounded more alert than she did earlier.

"Girlfriend, I like you very much."

Flora was stunned as she placed her free hand on her chest to feel her quickened heartbeat. She was too shy to reply his sudden confession, but she couldn't keep quiet.

"Boyfriend, I like me very much too. Good night."

Not giving him a chance to reply, she hung up and squealed into her pillow.

She really didn't have the face to see him anytime soon!
