A thief in the house

It was late at night and a silvery white moonlight sprinkled on the ground casting its luminous lights over the lovely fountain just in the middle of the compound, its clean serene waters flowing as it dropped to make a pool carved by beautiful floating white swan statues making the scene even more breathtaking. The night's aroma pervaded the air woven into a soft net, covering all the scenery on the outside surroundings. Everything that came into contact with the eyes was covered with this soft net. It was not as realistic as it was during the day. They all had vague, illusory colors, each hiding its meticulousness. Point, keep its secrets, and make people feel like dreams. Elizabeth found herself in this particular Paradise, dressed in a white flowery summer strapped dress with glass slippers that made a small sound each time she took a step down the stairs heading outside. The place was completely dark as she pushed her black hair off her face, so she could get a better view of where she was, but fog had covered the place, making it impossible for her to know exactly where she was. In this case, she would feel fear, but the particular place has a certain aura that drew her close and when she walked all the way to the fountain, she smiled as she closed her eyes feeling the cold crispy air caress her bare back as well as exposed shoulders making her shiver a little. Her hand extended as she had the urge to feel the cold water and once the water connected with her hand she felt a chill run through her body as her smile doubled. She felt the water and opened her eyes only to notice that the surrounding fog had increased which made her heart beat to quicken, not sure why but a certain feeling crept over her making her withdrew her hand from the water and started walking around the fountain as if searching for something

"Hello?who's there?"she called out softly and could hear her voice echoes back which made her wonder why her voice could echo when she was in an open space. Adrenalin kicked in as she felt the fog engulf her making it impossible to breathe and just then she saw a dark shadow emerging from the fog, with great dreams she felt sweat dripp down her forehead as she took a step back and the figure came forward. Elizabeth was terrified as she blinded several times only to see that the figure wasn't there

"W...who?"she tried to voice out, but her voice couldn't come out and just then she heard a crack behind her and with great fear, she slowly made her way to turn around however as soon as she looked back a hand came out of nowhere and suddenly pushed her into the fountain

"AHH?!"she screamed in agony as she rose from the bed breathing heavily as her heart nearly pounded out of her chest from the fear that washed over her. Elizabeth immediately rose from the large bed she was sleeping on and looked around the place and herself only to find that she was still wearing her blue jeans with a white tank top and black converse and with a sigh, she held her chest area to calm herself because she must have fallen asleep while crying

"It was just a dream Liza...just a dream"she whispered to herself as she looked around and hated it, this wasn't her bedroom, but the so-called room Helena gave to her when she brought her to her so-called husband's house.

Elizabeth didn't know how suddenly her life had turned from peaceful to disaster, it was just yesterday when she was planning her escape with Tyler. It was the other day she was celebrating her birthday and like a dream she was now married to a man she had never seen, not even once. The parents had given her away to some strange who didn't even think it was necessary to throw a small wedding but in the end she was made to sign paper as part of her marriage certificate without even seeing her husband, what if he was an ugly ghost or something, she thought

"I should get downstairs"she mumbled to herself as she grabbed her phone hoping to use it as a torch to light up the weird place but it was off hence she threw it away on the bed. Elizabeth was still wondering why someone who lived alone would have such a large mansion her bedroom itself was larger than anything she had ever seen, twice as large as her old bedroom and of course the living room back at her parent's house and yes, she didn't even bother to say goodbye to the people who ruined her by taking away her freedom and threw it to the ground so that people would trample over her

"Hello?" She slowly called out as she walked out of her room to find her way to the kitchen, she was told by Helena that her husband whose name was some Derek guy had gone on a business trip and wouldn't come until the following night, so she was just alone in the house which made her happy and afraid, she was glad the man wasn't around because she hated him more than anything, and secondly she wasn't used to living in such a large mansion which was big and lonely

Thanks to her photographic memory Elizabeth had a bigger picture of her way downstairs because when Helena was showing her around the place she quickly got a hang of it, and hence she made her way to a couple of stairs which were double from side to side, but she chose to take the ones on the right because they left straight to the kitchen

"What kind of sane man would have such horrible lighting, I mean so dim and so creepy"she complained as she walked with ease, even her room didn't have full lights but just dim red white lights that barely lit up the place

Elizabeth finally got to the kitchen, and she was impressed, the kitchen was very nice the modern type with whatever rich people had that made them think they were important however she had no time to drool over anything, and hence she went straight to the refrigerator and to her surprise she found some fruits and other canned edibles ones she could find, collected as much and draped everything on the counter and got ready to make herself something to fill her grumbling stomach

"What to make?"she asked herself while looking around however she stopped when she heard water dripping and with alertness she looked around, and her eyes landed by the sink and found the water dripping from the tap

"What?"she muttered wondering how come because as person what Helena had said no one other than her was in the mansion so why did the sink look like it had been used a few seconds ago. Only one thing came to her mind,

"T...thief"she said nervously and quickly looked around the place for something that would work as a weapon. Elizabeth hated suspense the most and as if that wasn't all she heard footsteps coming towards the kitchen which made her forget how to breathe, her stomach turned feeling her breathing to quicken as fear washed over her

"I'll... I'll fight"she said and quickly ran to hide behind the door and to her luck she found what looked like a baseball bat

"Thank you heaves"she whispered as she held the baseball bat in her hands nervous ready to strike and heard as the footsteps got closer and closer making her heart to beat even louder, but she held her breath and got ready to strike and as soon as the door was pushed open and someone tall wearing all black covering their head with a hoodie walked in heading to the refrigerator

*Bang*

She immediately connected the baseball bat to the person's head and another

"You thief….I'll deal with you!"she shouted boldly as she continued to smack the person but to her surprise whatever she was doing didn't seem to be working because the person wasn't screaming or running away

"W...who are you?''she asked nervously as she stopped her attack and took several steps behind, feeling fear once more. The tall person who was a man as she thought because he looked well built with broad shoulders, Elizabeth's breathing increased sensing a fearsome aura radiating from the man as he slowly turned around making her even more terrified as she narrowed her eyes to see who it was but to her surprise the man extended his hand and snatched the baseball bat from her with so much strength that she fell down on her butt but she had no time to nurse her pains

"P...please don't...don't...kill me...I'm innocent...this...take whatever you want...the house is large...please"she pleaded while sitting on the cold floor only for the man to take small steps towards her which seemed creepy and out of fear Elizabeth quickly covered her face with her hands just as the man stooped to her level and removed his hoodie, a cold expression was on his face as he scanned the small creature in front of him, she was too small and too tiny for his liking and when Elizabeth who was busy chanting mantras not to be killed noticed that nothing was happening therefore she slowly removed her hands from her face only to see the man up close so close looking at her in a creepy way

"N..no please Mr thief...don't do it...I'm a married woman…"she pleaded dramatically hoping he would go away but he was just there staring at her.
