*THE FIRST HATE*

"Ouch it hurts." Her little sister Angel winced when the brush tangled in her hair and Bethany quickly shushed her.

"It's alright, I'm sorry. I promise to be more gentle." Her older sister hummed as she continued brushing her hair more gently this time.

"When will papa be back Beth?." Angel asked, her small voice sounding so innocent and ignorant as her fingers fiddled with her gown.

"Soon enough." Bethany answered. Although she was worried, she couldn't let her sister know. Their parents hadn't taken this long to get back from the woods before. As they had no food in the house, they couldn't let them starve and had left to find some wild fruits.

Bethany was only seven years old but her beauty was beyond imaginary. She was a small petite girl with long blonde hair, sky Blue eyes and a little red Cross she had on her wrist ever since she was born.

On the other hand, Angel was curly brunette with a freckled face and chubby cheeks. Her eyes were sparkling emerald in colour.

"Bethany!." A loud bang was heard on the door and their parents came hurriedly into the house, locking the door behind them hastily.

"Get the kids ready Brenda, we can escape through the back door." Her father was soaked in sweat and her mother didn't look less scared.

"What going on mama?." She asked her mother who picked angel up and held her hand gently.

"Some of the king's men have invaded the village and are having a killing spree." Was all she said. She pulled Bethany and glanced at her husband who didn't look like he was coming with them.

"Lucent?." Tears formed in her eyes but he only nodded at her.

"Someone has to watch your backs. I will be right behind you. Now run!." The door blasted open and their mother turned around, running with her children who were now crying profusely. They didn't reach too far before a large force hit them all and they were thrown to the ground harshly.

"Mama!." Bethany screamed when she saw a man pick up her mother by her neck and bite into her neck ferociously.

"Do not touch my mama!." She ran towards him and bit into his legs which he used to kick her and she landed on the floor with a thud.

There was a numbing pain afterwards. She couldn't move, she lay still as she watched the strange man bite into her mother's neck and when he was done, tear off her head.

She screamed and thrashed around, tears falling non stop from her eyes.

She saw the man approach her small sister who was quietly crying on the ground and the energy seemed to come out of nowhere as she immediately tried to attack him again.

He stopped walking and stared at her who kept on hitting his stomach continually.

"Why do you try?." He spoke for the first time and she paused, looking at his face which was covered by a mask.

"Why do you keep on trying knowing fully well that you won't win."

"You killed mama." Her lips quivered as endless tears fell down her cheeks.

"That's one problem with you humans. You don't know when to give up. You guys had sent a messenger to kill our king and we are only defending ourselves. I hope you grow up to hate us. Because the hate between our race is what makes life a game."

Bethany couldn't fully understand what the man had just said but there was only one thing she knew. This man had separated her from her mother, his whole race had and she was never going to forget that.

She was going to take their king away from them.

"Take these children to the rest." He spoke to someone and Bethany felt another person tugg her forward but she quickly ran to carry her sister before following the man quietly.

They finally reached the middle of the village and she saw a large carriage that looked like a cage with many children inside which they led her and her sister to before locking the gate for good.

"I want to go back to my papa, take me back!." Multiple children's voices could be heard as they all cried for their parents. The strange men must have been angry because one of them walked into the cage and picked up a random child that was crying and tore his head off.

"One more noise and you'll be next!." He glared at them and they instantly stopped wailing, only whimpering sounds coming out of their clamped mouths.

Bethany was beyond scared. She held her sister tightly so as to comfort her but to no avail.

The man left the cage and started the carriage. The drive was a long one as they stopped from one town to another, dropping off children after children. Bethany didn't know what to expect as they approached yet another town but this town was far larger and had a large magnificent castle right in the middle.

"This is the last of them." The cage opened and the only children that remained were five in number.

When they stepped out, Bethany noticed a tall slender man that had long brown hair and eyes gave the children an odd look.

"The ones with the brown, black and ash hair will be taken to the west wing to become maids while the ones with blonde hair and green hair will be taken to the east wing to become slaves." He instructed and some men approached Bethany, tearing off angel who started crying immediately.

"My sister! Give me back my sister!." She tried to fight them but only a single push was able to send her tumbling down.

"Bethany!."

That was the last day she ever heard her sister's voice again.

It all still felt like a dream. One minute she had a happy family and the next everything was ruined. Everything came crashing down just because of one person.

Just because of the king.
