18 Arveion's Pov

Arveion burst through the Kingdom's mighty doors, getting glances right away. People wondered why his body reeked, his clothes untidy and what caused the threatening frown on his face.

However he had no time to stick around being friendly, nor was he about to explain his dignity to them. He clenched his sword to his side, his face contorted with hatred and resentment. The murmurs continued behind his back but he felt no need to bring himself to cut them off.

He already had enough to take care of.

He walked down a dark hall, the more he walked the more his headache increased. He entered the darkroom, removed all further clothing and forced himself into the bathroom, turned on the shower, and stood under its head, the cold water trickling along with his warmth bruised skin, the water a dirty red when it ran down the pipe hole.

He ran his shaken fingers through his hair before resting his head on the stone tiles. "Idiot—" He breathed, "Idiot!" This time it came out as a scream than a whisper, hitting his fist into the wall when he screamed, "Why were you so fucking stupid!" He continued until his fist was blood red, before bringing himself to turn off the water.

After he had come back from Earth, he had to fly around in other places to calm his head. Everything happened so quickly and he was so pathetic that he couldn't do anything about it, he didn't make it on time.

'Fuck.' He thought, if only he would have done things differently, perhaps move faster on his feet, trained harder. He would've changed what happened that day.

Arveion sighed into the towel drying his face and then wrapping it around his lower abdomen—he went through his drawers, throwing his clothes around the room, until a simple action went to, smashing drawers and breaking his mirror.

The place turned into a pile of mess, him laying on the bed right in the middle of everything, not bothering to change anymore. He reached beside his bed, pulling out a bandage to wrap his knuckles, not that he could feel anything at the time. He closed his eyes deciding that was the best way to kill the feeling but laying there with his hand over his forehead he couldn't help himself.

A knock erupted from the door, at first he ignored it but once again it continued, he groaned sitting upwards, "What." He sighed.

"Arveion?" The knocking continued now followed by a voice, "You in there?"

Irritated, he got up, stepping over clothes and broken glass to get to the door.

"The fuck do you want from me now Indigo." Arveion snarled, cracking open the door but only enough so she could see his face.

"Don't fucking talk to me like that, you miss training asshole, tsk." She scolded him, her hands rested on her hips with disheveled hair and her knuckles white indicating that went all out again at the training ground again.

"Is that all?" He asks coldly, tone showing no interaction at all, hinting that he wanted her to leave.

"What do you mean is that a—" Indigo started but seeing the serious look on his face and how he was looking at the floor she frowned, "Something's wrong isn't it." Her tone softened, her slim fingers reaching through the door to touch him but he stopped her.

"Just leave Indigo." He says but she stubbornly stayed there, looking into his eyes.

"Talk to me." She says softly, gently tapping on the door so he'll let her in."What happened, Arveion?" She pushed harder this time and he shook his head.

"I can't."

"Stop it! Just stop it—" She pushed against his weight, "If something is wrong and you're not telling, how am I supposed to help, you're always like this, why can't you just talk to me. I know something's wrong with you so, I—"

Arveion pushes open the door, tightly clenching her wrist, and places his head in the crook of her in an attempt to calm himself, "Davis is dead Indigo." He whimpered but caught onto her waist knowing that she was going to take the news just as he did.

Indigo dug her nails into his back when she screamed, hot tears running down her face, her eye makeup turning black.

"No, it...it can't be—" Her chest heaved intensely as she cried, gripping onto Arveion to hold herself up from falling, "But he promised me…"

***

Time passed with Indigo still crying, Arveion eventually having to let her in his room. They both sat on the end of the bed together, while he made soothing circles in her back, crying in her palms.

"So that's why, huh?" She asks in between breaths, "That's why we couldn't find him."

"Yeah—" Arveion says, he knew that she was feeling it, that's what got him so angry, he risked his life not even studying how the people who cared about him would feel."I'm sorry, I wasn't there in time." He died, to protect that girl, a stupid mundane, who he wasn't sure was even valuable to them.

"No—" Indigo cried, looking at him with tears still streaming down her face," Davis wouldn't want you to say that, you know he wouldn't want us to cry right now. Fuck Arveion how would he not want us to cry for him when I—" Arveion dried her tears with his thumb before cupping her face with his hands, "Shh, I know."

He embraced though he wasn't a person to seek comfort in—Davis would want him to.

"The worst part about it is that I'll be in charge of holding that fucker's funeral." Arveion chuckled, trying to make a joke out of the situation when he was clearly hurting.

Indigo pushed away his chest, "Can you not, right now."

He nodded, watching as she stared at the floor, her face flushed and her makeup ruined. She felt weird that she was exposed in such a manner, Arveion looking at her and comforting her—it made the room awkward as the two were always at war with each other. Competing in everything.

"I'm sorry." He said, trying to clear the air, "It does upset me though...hey look at me." He calls her, "I will avenge his death."

Indigo nodded, "He was a great man, taught me everything from only a little kid, though it pains me I will never question what he chose to do and you, as his brother, shouldn't either. I know how much you looked up to him, I'm sorry."

"Hey, tomorrow will you be by my side?" He nervously asks, telling himself he was sounding stupid and pathetic, but still, she smiled at him for assurance, putting her hand over his.

"Only tomorrow, then I'm back to kicking your ass. Also, tell no one about this." She gestured to them making a circle with her finger,"You didn't see me cry."

Arveion chuckled, "Trust me, it didn't happen on my end." He then returned his expression to seriousness as if flipping a switch.

"I have something important to announce tomorrow...besides Davis."
