“If he told you all that, then he probably reported that I just sued the Navy and won.”
“Yes, Sir, he did just that. Some sort of malpractice case, was it?”
“Yes, Sir.” Chris told him about the surgery and its aftermath.
“Oh, my,” Vanderbilt said. “And you’ll have to stick something up your dick for the rest of your life in order to relieve yourself?”
“Unfortunately.”
“What about the other thing, the cancer?”
“It was only stage two, and they’re confident that they got it all. In any case, I’ll see to it that Teddy is well provided for should something happen to me.”
“Good.”
“Do you know anything about my mother’s funeral arrangements, Sir?”
“All taken care of. She’s had a little burial policy with one of the local undertakers for years. All you have to do is call them and it’ll be handled.”
“Do you mind calling my lawyer, so we can talk about all of this for a minute or two before I sign anything? If you have a speaker phone, that would be good.”
