Chapter 37
“I just used your razor on myself. Would you like to use it?
“Yeah,” Chris said. “But come over here and kiss me first. There’ll be people in and out of here shortly, so make it quick.”
Mickey did as Chris requested, then retrieved the razor and other supplies. It didn’t take Chris long to remove the overnight growth of stubble.
“Now I feel better,” he said.
Mickey settled down in his chair to await developments, and they weren’t long in coming. Dr. Cobb came into the room followed by a short bald man who he introduced as Dr. Oliphant. They went to work examining Chris and began to talk in jargon, using medical terms that Mickey couldn’t begin to follow.
During a lull in the conversation, Chris said, “Mickey, why don’t you run on home and take care of yourself? If these guys conduct even half of the tests they’re talking about, I’m going to be tied up till noon, if not longer.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure.”
