Chapter 28
After the service, he and Mickey walked up to the organ console, where Tom was still playing a spirited postlude, and stood fascinated, watching Tom’s flying hands and feet. Tom finished playing, slid off the bench, and noticed them as he turned to leave.
“Chris, Mickey, glad to see you,” Tom said.
“That was fantastic, Tom,” Chris said. “And was that Noah singing during communion?”
“Thank you; and yes, it was. He’s probably upstairs in the choir room, if you’d like to talk to him.”
“Thanks, but we’ll pass for today. I’ve been in town for quite a while and still haven’t seen the beach, so Mickey and I are going to drive out there and take a long walk.”
“More power to you,” Tom said. “We’re on the go so much that I can’t even remember the last time we did that.”
