Chapter 40
“You got it,” Chris said.
They’d continued talking after the elevator stopped and during their walk to their cars.
“Here we are,” Mr. Bellamy said. “See you Monday, Mickey.”
“Yes, Sir.”
“And I’ll see you Tuesday, Chris,” Angela said.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Chris said.
The two couples headed for their respective cars, and when Chris and Mickey were in Mickey’s SUV, Chris said, “That was a nice little check.”
“Wasn’t it?”
“Did you have any idea they were going to do that?”
“The bank has a program for rewarding good ideas, but I hadn’t really thought that much about it. I prepared that report with the most selfish of motives in mind—I knew that if they adopted it, it would make my job a hell of a lot easier.”
“Nothing selfish about that, especially when it saves the bank money.”
“Yeah. What’s all this about Angela coming to look at our house?”
