Chapter 34
“Do you have any homework?” Mickey said, while they were eating.
“Yes, Sir.”
“Why don’t you do it before we go to the hospital? That way, we can stay longer.”
“Okay.”
“That’s what I thought you’d say.”
The minute they walked in the backdoor of their house, Ted headed upstairs with Bishop at his heels. Mickey took his purchases to the master bathroom and put them in a cabinet. After that, he settled down at his computer to get some serious work of his own finished. He worked steadily until his cell phone rang.
“Hello.”
“Hi, Mick.”
“What’s up, babe?”
“Are you on your way out here, yet?”
“Not quite. I’m waiting for Ted to finish his homework, why?”
“Can you bring my laptop with you when you come? I want to get to work on the last part of my book.”
“Sure. Are you up to it?”
“Yes, I am.”
“See you soon. Bye.”
Mickey heard footsteps in the hall, and a moment later Ted came up to his desk.
“I’m all done. As soon as I let Bishop outside I’ll be ready to go.”
