“I think you should do so, right now.”
Mickey’s sister told her father and grandfather what she’d told Mickey and Chris.
“Well, there you have it,” Mickey’s grandfather said. “She was already planning to do something.”
“Do you know this guy’s name, Cat?” her father said.
“Yes, Sir, I do.”
“Good,” he said. “That’s all I need to know right now, so let‘s make this the happy occasion it should be. You can give me the details later.”
“I hate to mention this, Pop,” Mickey said, “but maybe you should consider cleaning out your joint bank accounts before she does.”
“I’m way ahead of you, Mickey—I’ve been slowly doing just that for several months now.”
“Not to change the subject, Cat,” Mickey said, “but you didn’t introduce me to my nephew.”
Mary Catherine picked the boy up from her father’s lap and carried him over to where Mickey sat. “Mickey, this is my brother, your Uncle Mickey. Can you shake hands with him?”
