“Is Pop asleep?” Ted said.
“Yeah,” Chris said. “He had a hard day and went to bed early. Now that I think of it, I’m kind of tired myself. Did you let Bishop outside while you were at Robbie’s?”
“Yes, Sir. When we go over there, he always goes outside with Thor to run around.”
“Do you have any homework?”
“No, Sir.”
“Then I’ll secure the house and say good night.”
“Good night, Papa.”
There was silence and eventually the sound of Chris walking across the room. Mickey heard the rustle of clothes being shed and tossed onto a chair before he felt a warm body next to his.
“Is everything okay,” Mickey said.
“Never better. Sorry we woke you up.”
“You didn’t. I’m pretty sure I was already awake.”
“Pretty sure?”
“Yeah, I think so. Can we go to sleep now?”
“Sure.”
