BSWS CH-63 The Chunin Exams XXXI - Contract and New Powers

Sakura gazed back at the handsome demon gazing lazily at her. For some reason, she felt like punching the smug face, but she was held back by the sheer power that radiated out of him. Her chakra-sensing qualities only made her feel his power even more clearly.

"So," Nurarihyon said, "What do you guys need from me?"

"This here is the newest contractor to the Altar of Titans," Jorogumo said with a hand gesturing in Sakura's direction.

"Hm … and I am guessing she has an affinity to me?" Nurarihyon asked as he took another sip of the Sake.

"..Yes," Tiamat said with great hesitation as if she wanted to change the very fact from reality.

"Ah, that feels so good when you admit it, Mother of Dragons," Nurarihyon said with a smirk.

"Don't push it," Tiamat said with her Draconic eyes glowing eerily "You may be the 'One Who Walks Between Dream and Reality', but I will still rip you apart limb from limb if you disrespect me."

"Haha, keep your claws in, we can all share this Contractor peacefully," Nurarihyon said as he jumped down, the Sake bowl disappearing mysteriously.

Three of them gathered in a triangular formation around Sakura. Each of them cut their palm and a drop of their blood floated out. A Sanguine Beam of Light emerged from each drop before connecting the three drops of blood.

Sakura was in the middle of this formation. As soon as this blood formation was completed, a stream of mysterious energy seeped into Sakura. She instinctively raised her palm faced upwards and a scroll made of an energy construct emerged on top of her hand, before solidifying into an actual scroll.

"Sign your name in it, Child," Jorogumo told Sakura.

Sakura unfurled the Scroll. It was written in an unknown language, yet its knowledge was instinctively imprinted into her brain. It taught her how to summon these entities to help her, or even borrow their powers and abilities. She signed her name at the assigned spot in blood by biting her thumb.

"Alright, it's done." Tiamat waved her hand and the contract disappeared. In its place, a glowing runic marking surrounded Sakura's wrist like a bracelet. After it finished encircling her wrist, it flashed once brightly before disappearing.

"What was that?" Sakura asked.

"You can call it insurance for your life. When you are in mortal danger, one of the three of us will be summoned automatically by using our energy instead of yours. Don't abuse it though, it has a limited number of uses, after which it will become dormant until it gets recharged." Nurarihyon said as he took a sip from his mysteriously reemerged Sake Bowl.

"I will train her first since my arts are in some ways the easiest for her to master." Jorogumo said "Also, I came to know from Sakura earlier that she will have to go back soon in a few days. So, it's better to let her master one thing rather than confusing her with a bunch of stuff."

As Jorogumo moved away with Sakura to train her, Tiamat turned towards Nurarihyon. As she gazed at him intensely, Nurarihyon stopped drinking and his Sake bowl disappeared mysteriously again.

"What is it, Tiamat?" Nurarihyon asked in a serious voice.

"What do you know about her?" Tiamat asked "Despite your frivolous behavior, I know that you know something. That is the reason you are here, not for any chance of being summoned to the world. So what do you know?"

"As wise as expected from Mother of Dragons" Nurarihyon said with a smirk.

His gaze then turned towards the direction Sakura and Jorogumo had left in. As he remembered the prophecy that he had made, his eyes glowed mysteriously.

"Our previous path of fate shattered the moment that child stepped into this place. That child is the future now. She will take this world on a path even Fate itself didn't envision before, and we all have a big part to play in it. We may even encounter our old enemies."

Tiamat gave a bloodthirsty smile on hearing that she might be able to face their old enemies, "Well, Well, Well, this just got more interesting. I am really looking forward to it then."

Jorogumo trained Sakura like an instructor from hell. Sakura had to abuse her healing abilities just to keep up with her training schedule from hell.

Jorogumo first trained her in the special technique of the Arachne Clan, Thread Making. Unlike threads of normal spiders, the Arachne clan created threads out of a special method of materialization of energy, which allowed them to grant various effects to their threads.

As Sakura learned this method, she found that this method was based on an application of the Yin-Yang method, creating something purely out of Chakra. She swiftly mastered this technique as she had a great affinity for it.

Once she mastered thread creation, Jorogumo taught various applications for it in battle. The techniques she covered were: Thread Manipulation Technique, Thread Style: Wire Flail, Thread Style: Dance of the Flowing Wires, Thread Style: Fly Trap, Thread Style: Threads Spear.

Thread Manipulation Technique was a technique used by the Jorogumo as the foundation for most of her techniques. Through a special infusion of chakra, this technique allowed the user to control strings and thread they had created or even those that they didn't.

It was the basic component of the battle style Jorogumo was teaching her, called Thread Style.

Thread Style: Wire Flail involved the user creating a fist-sized spherical mass made completely of his threads which in turn is attached to another wire that the user can hold onto and use as it were a ball and chain flail, being able to fling it around as he wishes in almost all directions.

This Jutsu can cause devastating damage as well as having extreme cutting power, being able to cut through most known metals depending on the amount of chakra behind it.

The spherical mass of threads could also be made to burst out into individual threads on contact with the enemy, causing a devastating sneak attack.

Thread Style: Dance of the Flowing Wires involves the users of this Jutsu to start spinning and dancing. While doing so, they begin to let out as many wires as they want up to a maximum of ten. The more wires there are the more difficult it is to control. The wires can be let out to a maximum of 20 feet.

This technique creates a whip-like effect that can hit any location within its range in rapid succession. To make this just more dangerous the user can add Kunai or Explosive Seal to the threads, or even infuse it with elemental chakra to produce different effects.

Thread Style: Fly Trap was a special trapping technique. The user is able to throw out multiple wires that latch onto its surrounding area and form a large web-like pattern that allows them to trap multiple targets. Since the wires are so thin and unnoticeable, they are able to lure their opponents close until it's too late and trapping them within it.

The user typically lays out each string in a way that if one target tries to pull themselves free, they are inadvertently tightening the wires around another target, inflicting damage to them in the process. This is a way of minimizing the struggling each target does while trapped in the Jutsu.

The traps can also be infused with Elemental chakra and Fuinjutsu to damage or even seal the opponent. It was a truly versatile technique that could change the flow of any battle.

Thread Style: Threads Spear was the most powerful offensive type technique in Thread Style for one on one battle. The user makes a spear made of their threads making it an incredibly sharp weapon.

The user can use it to fight close range with or long-range attack by launching it and creating a small explosion, with horrifying results. The spear can easily penetrate buildings, rocks, and other obstacles.

The user can also take it a step further and cause the spearhead alone to rotate at incredible speeds turning it into a drill, that is capable of eating through a thick steel door in an instant.

A more deadly approach of the drill is having wire extend out from the sides of the spearhead, making the radius of attack several times larger than that of the actual spear. The user can also add their chakra nature to the spear to create an unexpected reaction.

As Jorogumo saw Sakura master these techniques at an incredible pace, she became even more sure of her decision to teach Sakura these techniques. While Summoning Contract did make the connection between the Summoner and the Contracted Entity stronger, She had never thought that someone not part of the clans that made up the Altar of Titans could even master their techniques.

But Sakura proved her wrong and very strongly so. Jorogumo didn't think that even she herself mastered these techniques faster than Sakura. But to be fair she had been experimenting on her own, while Sakura had her to be the teacher.

Jorogumo now looked forward eagerly to the chaos her new contractor will unleash in the world with this new power. Her eyes danced with uncontrolled mirth.
