Brought a sword to the shooting
The Vault Hunters followed the dirt road, their destination being to get to where Baron Flynt was. The man's base was in the gigantic bucket-wheel excavator, the whole thing was left by Dahl in the past, and now it only served as housing for thugs and Psychos.
When they were very close to the base, they received an ECHO call from Baron.
["You've come! I've been looking forward to this. My men are… impatient, but I shall savor this until your blood has sooked the sand and your carcass is nothing but food for Rakk! Come get some."]
"Stay alert, Baron is the leader of a large group of bandits, perhaps the most influential in the entire Badlands, so don't let your guard down," Roland warns everyone.
"So it was this idiot who kept sending me those threats." Kid discovers the man who was filling up his inbox. It started happening after they killed Sledge, probably one of Baron's henchmen. He wouldn't have left Sledge alive back then even if he'd known about Baron anyway.
On the horizon distorted by the heat, some Runners appeared at high speed, they were full of armed thugs, Baron's henchmen who wanted to stop them from getting any closer.
The vault hunters are not intimidated, not slowing down but speeding up even more against the bandits. The machine guns on the Runners start spitting fire when they get within range.
Kid saw one of the enemy Runners trying to shoot him, thinking he was an easy target because he didn't have any weapons on his Jetbeast. The blond snorted in contempt as he saw them coming dangerously close to him.
*Zooooom
By activating your tattoos, your body accelerates to ridiculous levels. Jumping from his Jetbeast Kid onto the enemy Runner.
*Bang! *Bang! *Bang! *Bang!
Kid shoots them each in the head, they wouldn't survive being shot point-blank in the skull. The blond then spins the wheel of the Runner before running to his Jetbeast again.
Time is running out, and the bandits have their heads blown off in the blink of an eye, the Runner loses control, his trajectory suddenly changing and hitting one of the bandits' Runners.
*BOOOM!
A huge explosion occurs and the two Runners are blown to bits, their passengers having no better fate.
Losing two vehicles so quickly has lowered the morale of the bandits, who are afraid to approach the man in red. The poor guy just forgot that he wasn't the only Siren in the Vault Hunters.
Lilith has stars in her eyes when she sees Kid take action, everything had happened so quickly that she could only see a red blur. She also activates her tattoos, wanting to see if she can do the same thing.
*Zzzzzzzzzz
Lilith's body disappears, leaving Mordecai alone to deal with the bandits, the man can only grit his teeth and ask Bloodwing to help him kill the Runners' pilots.
"WOMAN!" The thugs scream as Lilith suddenly appears in his Runner. The thug in the assault booth aims the Runner's heavy machine gun at Lilith, his finger pressing the trigger so hard it turns white.
*Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Lilith stands still and smiles as the bullets pass through her body. The bandits scream like maniacs as they see the woman hit by the bullets, but this doesn't last long as they see how the bullets have done nothing to the woman, not a drop of blood in sight.
"It's not a woman, IT'S A PHANTOM WOMAN AHHHH!" The bandits scream in horror, they want to run away but Lilith seems to have gotten bored and killed everyone with her SMG.
The short battle seemed to have reached its conclusion when the rest of the bandits fled after realizing that it would be impossible to defeat the Vault Hunters.
["I see you've beaten a path to my door! How could I turn you away when you're so doggedly eager for death? Do come in enter my humble abode."] Punctuating his words, the main gate begins to open for the Vault Hunters, however, a concrete barricade at the entrance prevents his Runners from going any further, although Kid's Jetbeast could enter, it wouldn't be that useful.
Leaving their vehicles, the Vault Hunters entered the Baron's base, the place was large and full of houses, and the residents were all out to welcome them with the best of local hospitality, gunfire, bombs, and hatchets.
However, this only proved to be a delay for the Vault Hunters, although some of them were equipped with shields, it only took a few more shots for them to end up like the rest. A trail of killings was left all along the path in the shape of the soles of the Vault Hunters' shoes, and they eventually reached a high ground that would lead to the top of the excavation machine.
The sound of battle is silenced, replaced by the noise of the elevator gears, Roland and Mordecai take the opportunity to use some metabolism syringes as they feel out of breath, they know things would start to get difficult.
The elevator finally reaches the top and opens its doors.
"A quest! Please, make yourself at home. My men will be with you shortly. Never let it be said that the great Baron Flynt is short on hospitality." Baron Flynt was at the highest point on a makeshift 'throne', he made a provocative gun gesture towards the Vault Hunters.
*Bang!
A sniper shot rings out, the bullet flying towards Baron's temple, but before Baron can be wounded, a ripple occurs, his shield reflecting the bullet. Baron is startled, not expecting Mordecai to be so ruthless.
"Tsk!" Mordecai could only shake his head as he watched Baron hide, turning his attention to the bandits who were appearing in hordes to kill them.
"Look for cover!" Roland shouts and throws some smoke grenades to make it harder for them to be hit, his gun firing several bursts at some Psychos running with their hatchets, ready to break them in half.
Kid tilts his body to the side when one of the Psychos manages to get close to them, before the last one can recover from his attack and prepare another, Kid punches the Psycho in the face, and the poor man's head makes a cracking sound as he is hit by the iron arm.
Seeing the enemies piling up, the Vault Hunters threw grenades, which proved fatal as the place was closed off and there was nowhere to run.
*BOOOM!
Several explosions occurred and severed limbs flew all over the place. Only a few bandits with shields remained. At that moment, the gears in the place began to turn, the bandits seemed to understand what was happening and retreated, their bodies shivering and shaking.
"Hanz! Franz! Take out the Vault Hunters!" Baron shouts from where he is, his voice filled with rage.
"AHHHHH! GRRRRR!" Two monstrous beings suddenly appeared, all two of them taller than Brick. Hanz was the one deformed by the amount of muscle on his body, he carried a large rusty sword and looked animalistic. While the other, no smaller than the first, held a Runner's machine gun, demonstrating his Herculean strength.
Kid doesn't rush to use his powers, given the constitution of the two thugs, they probably wouldn't die with just one shot from his revolver. He then took out his Devil's Kick and shot Hanz, who was running towards him, grunting and growling like an animal.
"WOOOOOOOO!" Hanz howls frantically as his flesh detaches from his body, and to make matters worse, his body begins to catch fire, causing even more pain.
Kid's eyebrows shot up when he saw Hanz spontaneously catch fire. Looking more carefully at the wound, he could see that it formed a pentagram in the flesh. His surprise doesn't last long when he's brought back by shots fired in his direction.
As he dodges, he sees Fanz wanting to buy time for Hanz to recover. Roland and Brick don't let this happen, firing at Fanz, whose shield is quickly shattered. He retreats to hide and waits for his shield to recharge, but is suddenly attacked by Lilith who appears behind his back, waiting for just the right moment, Lilith's trusty dagger slashing his neck mercilessly.
The confrontation didn't take long to find its end, the gun battles didn't last long, with quick results. Fanz and Hanz died as quickly as they appeared.
*Bang!
Another shot rings out and a scream rings out across the battlefield, Baron's easily recognizable voice. Mordecai laughs as he watches the man fall to the ground helplessly.
