Three Way Battle

Another day another blessing, unless you're being pulled by the arm as your body slides across the dirty uneven earth causing you pain and minor injuries as well as a horrible stench on your clothes

"Are we there yet?"

"Ohaha"

"You keep saying that but we still haven't made a stop"

"Ooha!"

"Hmm, okay"

He would have liked to say that he understood the gorilla's words after spending a week talking aimlessly to it but he would have to admit that he got none of what it was saying, that didn't stop him from blabbering to it to pass the time though, otherwise how could he cope with the pain and boredom he was feeling

All of a sudden it stopped moving and sniffed the air, something it would do every so often, but unlike other times where it would choose a new direction a move on this time its started banging its chest and hastily made way to whatever was finally found

"Don't go ow! so ouch! Fast!"

Faster speed meant more small rocks and branches he couldn't avoid and more bruises to fill his body

It was a long twenty minutes before they finally slowed down giving Yu some time to breathe

"You!! You're a horrible beast, I wish I was eaten by that bear than having had to endure any of your awful treatment"

"Groooar"

Suddenly a loud familiar growl came from the other side of the trees making him swallow his words back and hide behind the beast who would at least keep him alive

"Oooha!"

"Grooaaar!"

"Roaar!"

Along with the growl came a fierce roar, soon after Yu was able to spot the damnable bear along with a white sabertooth, the two were slowly approaching the gorilla with ill intent

'Backup? Hmm'

This might be his chance to escape but Lyra was out of commission still, there was no way to actually run either so even if he had the opportunity he might not be able to seize it

The bear and sabertooth didn't attack the gorilla outright, neither did the gorilla initiate anything, the three only circled while glaring at each other as if they were having a standoff

'Why do they keep looking up'

He noticed their enemies looking up more than once promoting him to look at the treetops as well

There were only a few ordinary trees between them with some of them bearing yellow pears, that was all

'What's that squirrel doing?'

From their perspective he noticed a small squirrel latching onto a tree branch so tightly it looked like it wanted to become one with it, it wasn't this action that caught his attention though but the fact that it was crawling ever so slowly forward into the middle of the three beasts exchange rather than running away, its trajectory seemed like it was heading towards…

'Was that there before?'

A red pear now hung among the many yellow ones sticking out like a sore thumb, he swore the out of place fruit wasn't there the first time he looked

He kept his eyes latched onto the fruit and the squirrel that was getting ever so closer and much to his suprise he found the fruit's colour changing gradually to blue

"Hoo? Hoohaa!"

It was at this point that the gorilla finally looked up at the fruit, perhaps grabbed by the new colour, only to see a tiny thief crawling towards its treasure throwing it into a mad fit as it let go of Yu and dashed at the precious fruit

"Graoo!" "Rooarr!"

The two other beasts didn't know about the squirrel and thought the gorilla was finally making its move thus they also rushed forward with the sabertooth being the faster of the two as it slammed itself into the gorilla who was trying to swat away the tiny creature

The small squirrel stiffened and just about died from a heart attack seeing the mighty palm smashing at it, thankfully the sabertooth came in time to thwart the deadly attack giving the sneaky little creature enough time to swallow its almost leaping heart back before jumping off the tree and disappearing into the trees

While the little guy may have escaped with its life and gave up all thoughts about the fruit the battle remained unaffected since the two sides were already in a kill or be killed situation

All three beasts gave their all from the beginning, the gorilla covered its skin with a bubble of water that absorbed any blunt attacks, something that proved useless against the sabertooth's bony teeth but very useful against the bear whos fur turned golden softening most of the mad lone beast's attacks

'I knew I saw something similar to the gorilla before! This one is a Bubble Baboon, the sabretooth must be a Bone Fang, I have no idea what the bear is though'

Bubble Baboons were not actually baboons but any ape species that used the bubble shield skill while Bone Fangs were saberteeth that had an exoskeleton instead of skin, both species were of the silver rank exclusive with them being of the water and beast attribute respectively

Watching on Yu noticed the fight going in the favour of the duo but not by a big margin, the bear was unable to do any damage to the gorilla since its smashing attacks only ripples its bubble while its attacks caused minimal damage to the bear, only the sabertooth was capable of ignoring the bubble shield and biting into the gorilla but it risked getting smashed if a single hit of the mad fists got in

The bear knew of its companion's weakness and tried to soak in the attacks allowing it to score hits every now and then, there were a few close calls but no injury was sustained by the quick fanged beast

"Roaar!'

While the bear and gorilla were once again entangled in a smashing competition as the former tried to make an opening for its accomplice a roar came out the bony beast's maw, one of utter delight since the fruit which was changing colour quicker than Yu's mood swings was now finally a shiny black

The beast crouched and made a light jump in order to chomp at the fruit, and chomp it did, only the target was a tree shoved into its mouth by the raging gorilla just before being slapped to the side by its own beefy companion

'Ohh, three-way battle, very nice'

Yu wished he had popcorn to eat while watching more than he wished for his legs to be healed so he could make a run for it, the show of camaraderie, greed, and finally betrayal was too exciting after all, it was like watching Korean drama all over again

The now free for all became very messy, the bear was still the main punching back but this time its injuries were getting quite hefty as it was in the middle of the two, one smashing it sideways while the other kept on sinking its fangs left and right, before long the golden fur started to turn reddish from the grisly wounds

"Grooaaar!"

Out of nowhere the defence oriented bear suddenly ran toward the tree to grab at the fruit which now turned golden, this made Yu think its colour correlated to the needs of these beasts, perhaps their attribute

Unlike the unsuccessful attempt of its ex-companion the bear was able to finally pluck the peer off the branch, its joy was short-lived though as the sabertooth headbutted into it causing the peer to get knocked out if its paws and onto the ground

Since the treasure was already decided the three went crazy climbing over each other in a bid to stuff it into their mouth, at least that's what the two tried to do every time it landed in their paws before being knocked away, only the gorilla took a different approach and slapped the golden fruit at Yu instead

"OOOHA!"

It then bear hugged the bear using its arms and grabbed the sabertooth by the maw using its leg forcing the two into a grappling competition

"Hmm, should I eat it?"

He contemplated for a second but looking at the wrestling mad trio he shook his head, he didn't want to be the victim of all three beasts wrath

"Well whatever, I don't even know what this thing does anyway"

He put the fruit aside and took out his crossbow

"Hehe, how the tables turn"

He aimed at the bear's injured spots and shot the poison-filled arrows with a vengeful smile on his face, who was sneak attacking who now
