Selfishness

I always knew someday you would end up leaving and living your own life but there was a part of me that wished you would stay here with me and not worry about the future. Me teaching you how to do all the things you know, it all seems like it was yesterday when I rescued you, but then realization hits me and I remember how your body slowly got cold and went unmoved in my hands. I was trying to bring back something that didn't want to, I wasn't ready for it to go yet it did. I was shocked because just seconds ago you were chirping as happily as you usually do. And now you lay here unmoved like I'm looking at a picture.
